During the time when Rizal’s novel entitled, “Noli Me Tangere” has been published and
soon reached to the Philippines, it has become the talk of the town. Many of the illustrados
came to like the novel. It even reached to the natives in the Philippines despite the written
language is in Spanish, only did some who understand the language translates it for those who
do not. But not all came to like the novel, the friars to be exact. Because of this, it greatly
affected him and the people who were close to him – his family and the woman he loves the
most, Leonor Rivera. Padre Amado, tried to evict Rizal thru indirect means and also planned to
take his family’s land which are horrible if you ask me. The number of times he experienced no
freedom to do what he wants and the problems he encountered drove him on writing the
second installment of ‘Noli Me Tangere’ which is the ‘El Filibusterismo’. If the novel ‘Noli Me
Tangere’ tackles about the current situation the Philippines face at that time, in his second
novel he tackles about the future, which is the Revolution.
