PROBLEM:
The new ‘Lean’ Navistar is utilising ‘CAN’ communication between the Power Wizard & the
1306C ECM. It has been determined that a limited number of Navistar ‘Lean’ 1306C-E87TAG4
and TAG6 gensets that have a Power Wizard control panel have been dispatched from the
factory with the incorrect CAN message being displayed. The affected population will show
‘IDLE’ while running at rated speed, the correct CAN message should be ‘RUNNING’
SOLUTION:
The engine ECM is sending an ‘IDLE’ message while the engine is running at rated speed, in
order to correct this a small wiring modification must be completed so that the Power Wizard
displays the correct ‘Running’ message.

Procedure

4. Bare the 1.5mm2 x 1.5m insulated cable at both ends by approx 5mm
6. Remove the ‘Red’ terminal locator from the ECM plug. As shown in Fig 2

7. Insert the terminal into Pin 27 of the Black ECM connector. As shown in Fig 3.

10. Suitably attach the insulated cable to the existing wiring harness to reach the relay box.
11. Install the ‘bared’ end of the insulated cable to a +24V DC terminal. As shown in Fig 4.

12. Re-fit the relay box cover
13. Start genset & check the Power Wizard for the normal
‘Running’ command.
