WHAT IS VOICE?
VOICE IS the grammatical relation (active or passive) of the grammatical subject of a verb to the
action that the verb denotes.

WHAT IS PASSIVE VOICE?

 The passive voice is used to indicate that the grammatical subject of the verb is the recipient (not the
source) of the action denoted by the verb.

The Eiffel Tower is the tallest structure in Paris. It were designed by the French engineer

Gustave Eiffel. Construction workers started building the tower in 1887, but it wasnt finished

until March 1889. At first, the tower didnt have any lifts - it only had steps. the elevators was

opened in May 1889. Today, the elevators go right to the top. The Eiffel Tower is made of iron,

and it´s painted brown. It´s repainted every seven years by a team of acrobatic painters. Now,

the tower is visited by six million tourists every year. It´s also used as a television transmitter.

FOR SALE: THE El FFEL TOWER

In 1925, a conman called Victor Lustig invited / refused businessmen to attend a meeting,

where he admitted / offered to sell the Eiffel Tower to them. Lustig didn´t own the tower, but

he complained / explained that he represented the city of Paris. It was a lie. He told the

businessmen that the city council didn´t want the tower, but refused / insisted that it was a

secret because the people of Paris would complain / order if they knew about the plans. In the

end, a Man called Poisson agreed / admitted to buy the tower. This week´s programmer tells

the story of Victor Lustig and other conmen who have convinced / agreed people to buy some

of the world´s most famous buildings.
