Conclusion & Recommendation

For the experiment 3, impulse turbine the purpose was to study the effect of spear valve settings
under varied load conditions. Through the experiment, 3 runs were tested out from the small,
middle to the fully opening with each of the opening required various different test conditions. From
the data obtained, logically if based on the theoretical the bigger the opening the higher the speed
of the turbine due to the volume of fluid being released at high pressure and velocity, thus the result
we obtain are basically following what had been stated. The biggest opening from the result
achieved the highest power generated,703.60w at the speed of 1430rpm and respectively followed
by the middle opening that recorded at 70.40W at the speed of 1383rpm and the small one at
68.19W at the speed of 639 rpm. However, if we referred to the graph that was plotted based on the
3 result tested, the pattern of the data were actually fluctuate a bit due to the inconstancy of the
speed and opening of the water that being released to generate the turbine. This issue causes could
be divide into 2 possibilities either technical error made by the experimenters or via the poor
condition equipment used. Overall, the result obtained is sufficient and fulfilling thus, it is satisfied
since it aligns with the theoretical state.

To ensure that perfect data can be achieved, few counter measures could be taken firsthand before
running or while conducting the experiment. Ensure that each and every experimenter get proper
briefing through the technician that was assign for the explanation and thoroughly understand on
what task to conduct. Next, proper technique eg; the timing, reading should be taken precisely to
avoid data delayed that can effect the result. Lastly, the best data can always be obtain via proper
equipment that undergoes scheduled maintenance which can perform at the best conditions.
