Introduction and Course Overview

• My name is Gower Choi and I graduated from Temple University with a BA and graduated
from Drexel University with a Masters in Mechanical Engineering . I have been and am
currently working as a engineer for the past 22 years. In those years I have presented and
spoken to a crowds regularly. This has given me years of experience as a public speaker.
This year, I will be sharing my experience and knowledge teaching the Public Speaking
class. My main goal is to be able to instill confidence to my students while speaking to an
audience. I believe this confidence is mainly gained through practice. This class is
designed to have two sections: first section will focus on public speaking. Second section
focus on the students making and giving a presentation. The students will gain from the
class:

• 1. A platform to practice speaking. Every student will have the opportunity to speak.

• 2. Introduction to the concept and knowledge of making an outline for their speeches.

• 3. Knowledge on the importance of doing presentations as this skill will be constantly used
during the students academic careers. One of the assignments will have the students
make a give presentation to their parents.

• 4. Gain confidence to speak in the class and ultimately gain confidence to speak outside
of this class.
