TRANSPONDER OFF
If APU or external power is online (depends on startup mode selected in the configuration manager) proceed
to items below black line.
If external power is available, the APU should be used only to provide air if needed. If air from APU is not
needed, APU start may be delayed,
but the APU must be started 30 minutes prior to departure !
BAT SWITCH ON
APU Startup
APU control panel:
The switch must be held in the start position against spring pressure. This initiates the automatic start
sequence.
APU Starter is limited to 1 min on 4 min off
The start sequence has to be aborted by pulling the APU fire shutoff handle in two cases:
• The EGT does not rise within 15 seconds
• No frequency on the AC meter is shown within 30 seconds

Takeoff procedure
Normally a rolling takeoff will be made. When the aircraft is aligned with the runway and rolling, set
approximately 1,4 EPR, monitor engine instruments and set takeoff power. UNDER NORMAL
CIRCUMSTANCES you DO NOT apply full power, take note of the previously set EPR bug settings for
engine 1 and 3. Do not readjust after 60 knots. Observe the previously set ASI bugs to ensure rotation is
carried out at the correct. When a positive rate of climb is established the pilot flying will command ‘gear up’
and the PNF will move the gear handle up. When the landing gear is locked and the doors closed (all lights
are out), the gear lever is moved to OFF.
In case instructions are received to ‘taxi into position and hold’, the takeoff procedure differs a little. Set 1,4
EPR before brake release and release brakes when advancing throttles to takeoff thrust.
Initial turns from runway heading should not be made before reaching 400’ AFL.
The initial climb speed of V2+10 knots provides a margin of approximately 30% above stall speed up to a 15°
bank. When more than 15° of bank will be required for manoeuvring, increase speed to V2+20 knots. This
will provide a margin of approximately 30% above stall speed up to a 30° bank

If No. 2 tank quantity is same as No. 1 and No. 3, continue tank-to-engine configuration
Use no more than 1200 pounds from tanks 1 and 3 during the above operation.
After tanks are equalized revert to tank-to-engine configuration.

ANTI-ICE AS REQUIRED
If wing anti-ice is in use, it should be left on as long as icing conditions exist. This action will avoid an
accumulation of ice on the wing leading edge that would necessitate a requirement for de-icing after
landing when ground conditions are such that de-icing would not otherwise be required.
CONTINUOUS IGNITION ON
- RMI CHECK
- HSI SET/CHECK
- VSI CHECK
- BOOST PUMPS ON
- NO. 2 OPEN
PRESSURIZATION CHECKED
Do not exceed .125 psi at touchdown
NO SMOKING SIGNS ON
GEAR DOWN
The pilot flying will command gear down. The pilot not flying will verbally confirm “and locked – 3
green”. The flight Engineer checks that Tail Skid light comes on and goes OUT.
AUTOPILOT OFF
Notes:
Fuel management
Normally the tanks shall be equalized and tank-to-engine configuration shall be used during takeoff
and landing. When trip length does not permit equalizing tanks switch to tank-to-engine-configuration
as late as practicable before landing but not below 1,000 feet Above Field Level, AFL.
Flap operation
Flaps should not be used for drag purposes in reducing speed – instead, they provide for operation at
reduced speeds.
If visual, the pilot flying may delay landing flap extension below 1,000 feet AFL. If this is done it is
required that the airplane be stabilized (landing 30° or 40° flaps and engines spooled up) by 500 feet
AFL.
Landing flaps
The 727 is normally landed with 30° flaps. A 30° flap landing is required when landing elevation is
above 2000 feet
ANTI-SKID OFF
When off runway and down to normal taxi speed and no brakes applied
FLAPS UP
Flaps are not to be retracted until clear of runway and when airplane is tracking straight ahead, when
practicable – to avoid hearing the flap callouts, click repeatedly to move the handle to flaps up

PRESSURIZATION RESET
