 Jean Piaget was born in Neuchâtel in Switzerland in the year 1896 and died in Geneva
in 1980. He was a constructivist psychologist who conducted studies on the intellectual
and cognitive development of the child.
 Piaget began his analysis of intelligence development with a study detailing the changes
in the child's understanding in the early years.
 Jean Piaget graduated and received his doctorate in biology in 1918 from the University
of his hometown, and from 1919 began his work at psychological institutions in Zurich
and Paris.
 Piaget describes the symbolic activity of the child at this age as preconceptual and
assumes that symbols influence mental manipulation and are expressed in language.
