 Muslim countries’ silence on Kashmir’s revocation of article 370 by India.

 So, what are basis of unity of Muslim world (or any block for that matter) today?
 Economic Perspective: India’s trade volume with gulf and countries: In billions of dollars. On the
other hand, Pakistan has been historically dependent on their aid to overcome its own economic
challenges.
 The solution: Develop your economy so that people can trade with Pakistan.
 Geo strategic vs geo-political interests: These are basis for unity today. Either of them is
necessary to gain support of a given country.
o UAE: Huge trading partner of India. Conferred highest civilian
award to Modi during the days of dispute. No response on Kashmir
issue.
o KSA: Huge trading partner of India and Geo Strategic partner of
USA in the region.
o USA: India is USA’s geo strategic ally in the region (against growing
Chinese influence). Offered mediation repeatedly but did not
condemn India’s unilateral actions. Instead, warmly welcomed
Modi in USA.
o Iran: Skeptic of Pakistan’s allegiance, especially knowing economic
dependence of Pakistan on KSA and USA. Instead, it has improved
relations with India, even allowed it to make a port in Chahbahar
region, near Baluchistan border. Geo-economic partnership with
Iran can help improve this situation. Projects like Iran-Pakistan gas
pipeline can help.
o China: Has geo strategic, geo-political interests in Pakistan. More
importantly, it is historically an ally of Pakistan. CPEC is flagship
project of OBOR. Furthermore, Pakistan is China’s most significant
strategic ally in the region against potential Indian Hindutva
imperialist mentality.
o Afghanistan: Has far better relations with India than with Pakistan.
o Turkey and Malaysia: Two countries with charismatic leadership
that is calling for Muslim Ummah to unite and realize the western
influence in region. KSA is wary of this since it is USA’s strategic
partner in the region. This explains why they wanted Pakistan to
attend Kuala Lumpur summit in 2019 while KSA allegedly
influenced Pakistan not to go in the conference.
