Definition:
Transportation Lane:
Definition:
A relationship btw two locations/zones/etc. so that defines a direct reachability between these
locations for a specific means of transport.
Means of transport -> Source location; Destination location
o Validity period
o Distance & duration
o Carrier selection strategy
o Use of business share
o Use of transportation allocation & planning period
Carriers can be assigned (optional):
o Carrier Code & Validity
o Internal costs
o Carrier Selection Strategy – priority
o Continuous move
o Share of business
o Transportation allocation
o TM Tendering
Trade Lane:
A trade lane, is a classification of any transport related activities representing a combination of
zones / locations combined with a means of transport / transportation mode and providing an
orientation between source and destination.
Examples;
o All transports btw cities
o All transports within a country / zone
o All transports that shipped from a location
o Etc.
For planning; a transportation lane must exist even if a trade lane exists. [!!]
Trade lanes can form a hierarchy.
Schedule:
Gateway Schedule:
Road gateway schedule -> Direct connection btw gateways. Only start / end destinations
allowed.
Sailing Schedule -> Multi gateways possible, so indirect.
Master Flight Schedule-> indirect schedule, similar to sailing Schedule. (May have multiple stops
but not defined on system)
o Ex: Frankfurt to LA via NY. -> Master Flight Schedule
FRA – NY: Carrier Schedule 1 assigned to stage of master flight schedule
NY – LA: Carrier Schedule 2 assigned to stage of master flight Schedule.
o IF assignment is changed, regenerate the departures and voyages.
If it is gateway schedule, you can define as direct / indirect.
Carrier Schedule:
Ocean Carrier Schedule -> A Ship’s all destinations (stages) are defined.
Carrier Flight Schedule -> One plan’s all destinations (stages) are defined.
o Note: Operating and marketing carrier companies can be defined too. (Nice)
Road Schedule -> A truck’s all destinations (stages) are defined.
