Conclusion:

Density is a measure of how much mass is contained in

a given unit

(Density = Mass divided by volume). Six different liquids were

put

into a cylinderto see how the densities of these items stacked

up

against each other. Each liquid’s density was looked up and charted and then
the experiment was conducted. The layers created a type
of density 6-layer tower. This experiment uses several different types of liquid to
determine which is more dense. Lighter liquids are less dense than heavier liquids so they float on top of
them. From the data, the graph does support our team's predictions because it matches the order of our
team's density tower.Though our group was succesful, there could have been many limitations to ruin an
experiment's data and density tower. There are such limitations like the amount of force you put into
pouring the liquids,or the amount of liquids used,or any other limitations that can make an experiment
unsucessful.

The science secret here is density. Density is a measure of how much mass is contained in a given unit
volume (density = mass divided by volume). If mass is a measure of how much “stuff” there is in an
object or liquid, density is a measure of how tightly that “stuff” is packed together.

Based on this density equation (Density = Mass ÷ Volume), if the weight (or mass) of something
increases but the volume stays the same, the density has to go up. Likewise, if the mass decreases but
the volume stays the same, the density has to go down. Lighter liquids (like water or rubbing alcohol)
are less dense or have less “stuff” packed into them than heavier liquids (like honey or corn syrup).

Every liquid has a density number associated with it. Water, for example, has a density of 1.0 g/cm3
(grams per cubic centimeter—another way to say this is g/mL, which is grams per milliliter). Here are the
densities of the liquids used in the column, as well as other common liquids

.Density Column Materials

You can use some or all of these liquids, depending on how many layers you want and which
materials you have handy. These liquids are listed from most-dense to least-dense, so this is the order in
which you pour them into the column.

Make the Density Column

Pour your heaviest liquid into the center of whatever container you are using to make your column.
If you can avoid it, don't let the first liquid run down the side of the the container because the first liquid
is thick enough it will probably stick to the side so your column won't end up as pretty. Carefully pour
the next liquid you are using down the side of the container. Another way to add the liquid is to pour it
over the back of a spoon. Continue adding liquids until you have completed your density column.
At this point, you can use the column as a decoration. Try to avoid bumping the container or mixing its
contents. The hardest liquids to deal with are the water, vegetable oil, and rubbing alcohol. Make sure
that there is an even layer of oil before you add the alcohol because if there is a break in that surface or
if you pour the alcohol so that it dips below the oil layer into the water then the two liquids will mix. If
you take your time, this problem can be avoided.
