XX building – second

The XX is made up of two buildings with a foyer between. These buildings are ground plus single storey with a non-
accessible roof over it. These buildings have a series of studio rooms around the perimeter. The studio rooms around
the Foyer are of double-height. All building structures will be cast from reinforced concrete. These buildings have
basements. The reinforced concrete slab over the basements supports the ground floor.

The XX building and YY buildings are connected by a covered link bridge at the L1 level. The proposed link bridge will
be in RC with an RC corbel projecting out at the L1 slab level on both buildings.

It is assumed that the studio rooms are not separated/isolated for the acoustic purpose.

An additional 2kPa load will be considered to the L1 and Roof level to support the hanging equipment such as AV,
Sculptures, chandeliers, etc.

The structure for the XX building typically consists of RC flat floors supported by RC columns on a 9.4 x 9.4m grid,
with ductile RC cores to provide the lateral stability. The stair and lift enclosures which are starting from the basement
are designed as RC cores. The cores need to be aligned along with the height for a continuous lateral load path. The
exposed/visible columns are circular whereas the columns within the walls are of square type (the square column size
shall be accommodated in 750 mm dia basement circular columns)

A structural steel framed skylight is proposed to go above the Foyer. This will be designed to span between the
columns on either side. The steel columns will cantilever from the roof. The lateral stability to this will be provided by
the in-plan bracings.

A series of columns are planted on the building periphery at the ground floor with a tie beam at L1 and Roof level to
support the peripheral façade intent (pre-cast planks)
