R .S .P _ Related Study Program:

Experience, observe, gauge and draw was
the main initials to instigate the learning. This
exposure to built environment helps
students to actually feel the space and
record-draw-observe-redraw and develops
references for further learning. Immersion in
a built environment develops direct relation
to first hand understanding of recording
things on paper and related study program
becomes elucidated learning experience in
pedagogy.

Elucidation of R.S.P:

Background:
Related study program are always being
an experiential learning which allows to
everyone to avail opportunity to
understand different facets of built
environment in different context, with
tangible and bodily experience.

During my educational time, R.S.P

become very important method for
understanding and recording building,
along with it helped to developed skills,
perspective to look at architecture,
details, material use, and context. We
also get too exposed to different
mapping exercise, documentation and
representation method, and also
increase peer learning and interaction.

This time i was on other side as a tutor,

and I recognized that R.S.P as valuable
method of learning, my experience of
R.S.P as student allowed me to make
student go through same pedagogy,

We, with team 5 tutors and 80 students

visited Hunnersala and Khamir located
around 15km away from Bhuj Kutch.
These Students were of first year, above
places were experiential for their
learning, as they got exposed to different
building construction systems, material,
components in built environment, variety
of spaces from built to open .

Intent of this R.S.P:

Entire study was based on making students
expose to built spaces and understand scale
and proportion, by drawing sketch to scale
and coordinated drawings, where they tried
to understand:

 Spatial configuration
 Built vs. open
 Scale and proportion
 Constructional aspects
 Material details
 Physical system in profile of built form
 Response to context
 Recording /documenting skills
 Space from whole to part

Two places are selected for documentation

1. Hunnersala And 2,Khamir

Methodology:
Entire study was divided two major stages

1. Documenting whole to part :

We have chosen two site one was Hunnersala

which consist of different material exploration
and details along with its own narration of
spatial organization and other was Khamir
where spatial configuration played an
important role, where there was equal portion
of built and open along with constructional
system, in both the cases, experience the
whole space and drawing the whole space
diagrammatically, which can allow them to
observe and draw whole space at first glimpse.

2. Sketch to scale:

Intention was to develop their skill of observing,

gauging the built form and draw them to the
scale, without using any instrument other than
grid which they had for the reference, which
helped them to draw actual scale into
proportionate drawings with free hand

For understanding and getting grip over

sketch to scale, coordinated drawings of
plans, sectional profile, frontal profile, part
plans, details and iso/axonometric, elemental
profile were imposed, which need to draw by
individual proportionating with reference of
grid scaling up-down on tracings.
Here, with intentions and methodology we tried
to demonstrate students this methods of
documenting and observing built form first
hand.
