RE: NOTIFICATION OF AWARD

(ON-GOING PROJECT)

We have received a letter referenced UU/TETF/PROC/2020/Vol. I/W2 dated

15 June, 2020 from the Vice Chancellor, University of Uyo concerning the execution of
Roof and Roof Beams on the Sectional Completion of the proposed Faculty of
Agriculture Complex (Animal, Crop and Soil Science Block-Phase I) [On-going
project].

2. In line with the above, we have perused the drawings and have observed some
deviations of the Structural Drawings from the Architectural Drawings regarding the
roof as follows:-

a. The height differences at various sections of the roof (Between both drawings)

b. The type of parapet as presented by the Structural Drawing differs from that of the
Architectural Drawing.

3. It is important also to bring to your notice that the proposed Fixed End joint to
connect the roof truss and the column will generate moments at both ends. This usually
gives rise to stresses which develop cracks and when not checked can lead to failure.

4. Based on the above, we wish that both drawings should be harmonized and the
fixed joint proposed be checked to ensure that it is safe. This will help use execute the
works as required.
