As a result of the Pre-Bid Conference held on 15 April 2016, the Bids and Awards
Committee of Duty Free Philippines Corporation would like to notify all prospective bidders
of the following revisions, forms/documents to be included in the submission of their bid for
the project Installation of HVAC System and Standby Generator Set for DFPC NAIA T3
– Landside Store.

Annex A

VI. Specifications
SECTION I - GENERALS

1.1 DESCRIPTION:

This division of the Specifications covers the supply, installation, testing and
commissioning of the PROJECT as specified herein. Provide all materials, labour,
equipment and supervision.

1.2 CODES AND STANDARD

1.2.1 All works shall be in accordance with the following codes and agencies:
- Uniform Mechanical Code (Latest Edition)
- The Uniform Plumbing Code (Latest Edition)
- Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineer’s Code (PSME)
- Fire Code of the Philippines (Latest Edition)
- National Fire Protection Code (NFPC) (Latest Edition)
- National Plumbing Code of the Philippines (NPCP) (Latest Edition)
- The Philippine Electrical Code (PEC), latest edition
- Publications and Standards of the organizations listed below are
applicable to materials specified herein.
- American Society of Mechanical Engineers Code (ASME)
- American Society for Testing and Materials Publications (ASTM)
- Sheet Metal & Air Conditioning Contractors’ National Association

1.3 SUBMITTALS

Prior to start of any construction works, the contractor shall submit for the Duty Free
HVAC & Mechanical Consultant’s approval the following documents:

1.3.1 SHOP DRAWINGS

This will include the following:


1. Drawings, diagrams and schedules specifically prepared to illustrate some
portion of the work.

2. Diagrams and instructions from a manufacturer or fabricator for use in
producing the product and as aids to the Contractor for integrating the product
or system into the project.
3. Drawings prepared by or for the Contractor to show how multiple systems and
interdisciplinary work will be coordinated.
4. The shop drawings shall be drawn to scale. The scale shall not be less than
1:50M.
5. The shop drawing shall show the general intent of the installation works.
6. Where utilities are to be tied into existing, the shop drawings shall clearly
indicate the extent of the utility to be connected and the detail of connection.
7. The contractor shall also note any obstructions in the way of the new works
and the contractor’s proposed solution to the problem.

1.3.2 PRODUCT DATA

Within a week after award of the works, the contractor shall submit for Duty Free
HVAC & Mechanical Consultant’s approval, the technical data of materials
proposed to be incorporated into the works. Product sales & brochure are not
acceptable submittals and shall be returned without any action taken. Product
technical data shall show compliance with specifications. No product shall be
incorporated into the work unless approved by the Consultant. Turn around for
Consultant’s approval of technical data is normally three (3) working days after
receipt of the submittal. Product data shall be submitted in three (3) copies. Two
(2) copies will be returned to the contractor with the appropriate stamp.

1.3.3 SAMPLES

Fabricated or unfabricated physical examples of materials, equipment or


workmanship that illustrate functional and aesthetic characteristics of a material
or product and establish standards by which the work can be judged.

Product sample submittals when required by the specifications shall be mounted


in a sample board and shall be tagged with the project title and the contractor’s
name.

1. The product samples shall be approved by the HVAC & Mechanical


Consultant before being used in the works.

2. Approved sample boards will be returned to the contractor and shall be kept in
the contractor’s field office until completion of the works.

Approved product samples maybe installed into the works provided the samples
are free from damages.

1.3.4 TEST RESULTS
1. Report signed by authorized official of testing laboratory should show
that a material, product or system identical to the material, product or
system to be provided has been tested in accord with specified
requirements. (Testing must have been within three years of date of
contract award for the project.)
2. Report which includes findings of a test required to be performed by
the Contractor on an actual portion of the work or prototype prepared
for the project before shipment to job site.
3. Report which includes finding of a test made at the job site or on
sample taken from the job site, on portion of work during or after
installation.
a. Investigation reports.
b. Final acceptance test and operational test procedure.

Submit test results when called for by the specifications. Report shall be
submitted in three (3) copies. Two (2) copies will be returned to the contractor
upon FMD acceptance of the report.

1.3.5 RECORDS DRAWINGS


1. Drawings showing final as-built conditions of the project. The terms
"drawings," "contract drawings," "drawing files," "working record
drawings" and "final record drawings" refer to contract drawings
which are revised to be used for final record drawings showing as-
built conditions.
2. The final CAD record drawings must consist of one set of electronic
CAD drawing files in the specified format, 2 sets of prints, and one
set of the approved working Record drawings.
3. The manually prepared drawings must consist of 1 set of completed
final as-built original transparency drawings, 2 sets of blue-line
prints of the transparencies, and the approved marked working as-
built prints if any. These drawings should signed and sealed by the
HVAC and Mechanical Consultant of the Duty Free Philippines.
4. No separate payment will be made for record drawings required by
this guideline, and all costs accrued in connection with such
drawings are considered a subsidiary obligation of the Contractor.

SECTION II - PIPE AND FITTINGS

2.1 IDENTIFICATION OF PIPING SYSTEM

1. The works required under this section consists of the supply, installation,
testing and commissioning of the identification of Air Conditioning Equipment and
Generating set equipment & its fuel system, piping systems and associated
equipment, instrumentation and materials.
2.12 All above ground piping inside the building shall be primed coated with
primer epoxy paint, Sphero brand or equivalent and final coated with QDE paint,
Boysen brand or equivalent similar color with the existing installation.

2.2 QUALITY ASSURANCE

2.21 Industry Reference Standards – The following specifications and standards


are incorporated into and become a part of this Specification by reference.
Except where a specific date is given the issue in effect (including amendments,
addenda, revisions, supplements and errata) on the date of invitation for bids,
shall apply. In the text such specifications and standards are referenced by basic
designation only.
a. ASTM A53-98 - Pipe, Steel, Black and Hot-Dipped, Zinc Coated, Welded
and seamless.
b. ASTM B16.5 - Malleable Iron Flange Fittings Class 150.
c. ASTM A234 - Piping Fittings of Wrought Carbon Steel and Alloy Steel for
Moderate and Elevated Temperatures.
d. AWS D1.1 - Structural Welding Code.

2.22 Products of the following manufacturers, which comply with these


specifications are acceptable:
1. Supreme Pipe or equivalent brand with higher quality.

2.23 PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS


a. Piping system design working pressure is 1035 kPa (150 psi).
b. Where more than one piping system material is specified, ensure system
components are compatible and joined to ensure the integrity of the
system and will not be jeopardized. Provide necessary joining fittings.
Ensure flanges, unions, and couplings for servicing are consistently
provided.
c. Use unions, flanges and couplings for connection to equipment, valves
and accessories. Do not use direct welded on threaded connections.

2.3 PRODUCTS

1. Pipe size 50mm and smaller:


a. Type: Black Steel ERW pipe, seamless
b. Class: Schedule 40 (std.), Grade A, ASTM A53.
c. Fittings: Standard weight black malleable iron.
d. Joints: Threaded.

2. Pipe size 65mm thru 200mm:


a. Type: Black Steel ERW pipe, seamless
b. Class: Schedule 40 (std.), Grade A, ASTM A53.
c. Fittings: Standard weight black malleable iron.
d. Joints: Welded. Use 4.0mm diam. welding rod 6011 for the first 2
layers and 6013 for succeeding layers. Use welding
machine with a capacity of 500 amperes or equivalent.

3. Pipe size 250mm and larger:


a. Type: Black Steel ERW pipe, seamless
b. Class: Schedule 40, ASTM A53
c. Fittings: Standard weight black malleable iron.
d. Joints: Welded. Use 4.0mm diam. welding rod 6011 for the first layers
and 6013 for succeeding layers. Use welding machine with a capacity of
500 amperes or more.

4. PIPE FITTINGS, UNIONS, FLANGES AND COUPLINGS:

a. Unions for size 50 mm and smaller:


- Ferrous Piping: 1035 kPa (150 psi) malleable iron.
- Union shall be installed at all points necessary for the removal or
maintenance of valves, tube bundles and equipment. Unions shall
be of the same material as the fittings specified and suitable for the
working pressure and temperature of the system in which they are
installed.
- Material for unions shall match the pipe system category for
pressure, temperature and corrosion.
- Unions shall be: Steel – screwed, malleable iron, O-ring or brass
seat.
- All threaded B.I. fittings should be made in Thailand.

b. Flanges for Pipe Over 50 mm:


- Ferrous Piping: 1035 kPa (150 psi) forged steel, raised face slip-on
ANSI B16.5 flanges with ASTM A-307 Grade B bolts (carbon steel).
- Gaskets: Minimum 2.0 mm thick preformed neoprene up to 250mm
and 3.0mm thick preformed neoprene for pipe sizes over 250mm.
Garlock brand or equivalent.

5. REDUCERS:

- Use concentric reducers on all vertical lines.


- Use eccentric reducers on all horizontal lines, connections to pump
suctions and to items of equipment with the flat of the eccentric
arrangement on the top or bottom of the pipe to allow venting or
drainage as applicable.

2.4 EXECUTION

1. PREPARATION

- Ream pipe and tube ends. Remove burrs.


- Remove scale and dirt on inside and outside before assembly.
- Prepare piping connections to equipment with flanges or unions.
- Keep open ends of pipe free from scale and dirt. Protect open ends with
temporary plugs or caps.

2. INSTALLATION

- Install in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.


- Cut pipe accurately to measurements, and ream free of burrs and cutting
splatter. Carefully align and grade pipe, and work accurately into place.
Fittings shall be used for any change in direction. Make adequate
provisions for expansion and contraction. Clean all dirt and cutting debris
from pipes before making the next joint.
- Route piping in orderly manner.
- Install piping in accordance with the plan.
- Install piping so as to preserve access to all valves, air vents, and other
equipment and to provide the maximum headroom practicable.
- Provide offsets as required to maintain ceiling height to coordinate with
other trades. Do not use pieces where a full length will do.
- All piping shall be installed parallel to or at right angles with the building
walls, columns and partitions. It shall be practicable to drain every part of
the piping system.
- Threaded pipe shall be cut square and full threaded with clean out
tapering threads, and shall be reamed after threading. All threaded
connections shall be made with pipe thread compound applied to the male
threads only, and shall be so made up that not more than two (2) threads
will be exposed.
- All piping shall be provided with two coats of rust inhibiting primer,
preferably primer epoxy paint, Sphero brand or equivalent with higher
quality. Use the same brand of epoxy reducer.

- Final coating should be 2 layers of QDE paint, Boysen brand or
equivalent. Existing colours should be followed.
- Provide clearance for access to valves and fittings.
- Provide access where valves and fittings are not exposed.

3. VALVES AND ACCESSORIES


- Install valves and accessories where required and in strict accordance
with manufacturer’s instruction for proper operation of piping and
equipment, including valves in branch lines where necessary to isolate
sections of piping. Locate valves so as to be accessible and so that
separate support can be provided when necessary. (Please see the
drawing details)
- Valves in horizontal piping shall be installed with stems and test points at
or above the pipe centerline.
- Butterfly valves adjacent to equipment shall be functional when equipment
is removed.
- Thermometers installed in vertical pipes shall be installed on a 45° angle
and in horizontal piping shall be installed vertical. Thermometers shall be
located and mounted to be conveniently read.
- Install brass unions between each pressure gauge and gauge cock.
- Install drain valves on drain line located on both ends of the header.

4. INSTALLATION OF PIPING SPECIALTIES


- Install automatic air vents, temperature gauges and pressure gauges in
locations as indicated on the drawings or along the portion where air will
certainly be trapped.

5. INSTALL SUPPORTS AND ANCHORS


- Install supports and anchors in accordance with standards and on the
drawings indicated therein.

6. EQUIPMENT CONNECTIONS
- It shall be practicable to remove any item of equipment to which piping is
connected by removing only one (1) or two (2) sections of piping. Unions,
flanges or mechanical couplings shall be used at all locations where
connections are made to equipment.
- Connect piping system to mechanical equipment as indicated, and comply
with equipment manufacturer’s installation instructions.

7. TEMPORARY CAPS, PLUGS OR VALVES


- All rough-in piping or piping not completed at the end of the day shall be
provided with temporary caps, plugs or valves to prevent the
- Entrance of foreign material during the construction period, until such time
as piping is extended or final connections are made.

8. PIPING TEST
- Every pipe system shall be tested at 1.5 times in operating pressure
- Pipe and fittings shall be tested before any insulation or other covering is
applied.
- Testing may be performed in sections before vital equipment is connected
if the test pressure is above the equipment rating.
- Test medium shall be water under hydrostatic pressure with all air
removed from the system. Hydrostatic pressure shall be help for no less
than two (2) hours, with no drop pressure.
- System shall maintain pressure and shall be checked for leaks. Any leaks
shall be repaired and the system retested.
- All components which may not be rated to withstand the test pressures
must be isolated and protected from damage.
- Notification to be provided a minimum of 48 hours in advance of tests.
- Copies of test reports must be submitted and signed by two (2) witnesses
from the owner.

9. CLEANING
- Upon completion of testing, all piping shall be cleaned and flushed.
- Every pipe system shall be cleaned to remove trash, mill scale, cutting oil
and welding splatters from the lines before any control devices are
installed. In such debris has connected in valves shall be disassembled
and cleaned prior to closing for the first time.
- After twenty-four (24) hours of operating, each strainer shall be blown
down. This shall be repeated as often as necessary to produce a clean
discharge from the blow down. Prior to turning system over, every strainer
shall be removed and cleaned.

SECTION III - VALVES AND OTHER CONTROL DEVICES

3.1 DESCRIPTION

The works required under this section consists of the supply, installation, testing and
commissioning of the condenser water valves and associated equipment and materials.
Provide a schedule of all valves required, with quantities.

3.2 QUALITY ASSURANCE


3.2.1 Industry Reference Standards – The following specifications and
standards are incorporated into and become a part of this
Specification by reference. Except where a specific date is given the
issue in effect (including amendments, addenda, revisions,
supplements and errata) on the date of invitation for bids, shall apply.

In the text such specifications and standards are referenced by basic
designation only.
- ASTM A-126 – Class B Cast Iron
- ASTM A-395 – Ductile Iron
- ASTM B-16 – Brass Composition
- ASTM B-62 – Cast Bronze Compositions

3.2.2 Acceptable Manufacturers: Products of the following manufacturers,


which comply with these specifications, are acceptable:
- Honeywell (strictly made in U.S.)
- Kitz (strictly made in Japan)
- Belimo (strictly made in Switzerland)
- Spirax Sarco (strictly made in U.S. or U.K.)

3.2.3 PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS


- Piping system design working pressure is 1035 kPa (150 psi).
- Where more than one piping system material is specified, ensure
system components are compatible and joined to ensure the integrity
of the system is not jeopardized. Provide necessary joining fittings.
Ensure flanges, union, and couplings for servicing are consistently
provided.
- Use unions, flanges, and couplings downstream of valves and at
equipment connections. Do not use direct welded or threaded
connections to valves, equipment or other apparatus.
- Use non-conducting dielectric connections whenever jointing
dissimilar metals in open systems.

3.3 PRODUCT

3.3.1 GENERAL
- All valve hand wheels shall be non-slip, malleable or modular iron
unless indicated otherwise under the individual type valve
specification.
- Underwriter approved valves shall bear the underwriter’s label.
- All valves installed in horizontal piping system shall have the stems at
or above the centerline of the pipe. Valve hand wheels shall be
oriented when installed to provide maximum accessibility.
- Select valves and fittings to meet the operating pressures and
operating characteristics of the relevant systems and to meet higher
test pressures where applicable.
- Design pressure of valves and fittings not less than the system
design pressure.
- Valves up to 50mm diameter; screwed connections.
- Valves over 50mm diameter; flanged connections.

- Hand wheels and handles to be removable with the direction of
closing to be marked clearly.
- Where possible valves to be selected from one manufacturer
throughout the project.
- Where copper alloy valves used, select valves of dezincification
resistant type.

3.3.2 ISOLATING VALVES – 50mm AND SMALLER

a. Ball Valves - Valves 50mm and smaller shall be Class 1035kPa


(150 psi). Body shall be of bronze composition, threaded ends,
replaceable reinforced seats. Full port opening in stainless steel
ball, stainless steel stem, reinforced seal and thrust washer and
cadmium plated steel hut/handle. KITZ brand, 600 W.O.G.
b. Butterfly Valves - Valves 65mm and larger shall be lug-body
type, Class 1035 kPa (150 psi) conforming to ASTMA-126 Class
B cast iron drilled and tapped to ANSI 125-150 flange standard,
field replaceable EPDM o-ring stem seals and replaceable buna-
n seat.
Sizes 50mm to 200mm shall have lever handles with memory
stops. Kitz brand, 200DJ, or Belimo brand, lever or motorized
operated. Larger than 200mm shall be geared and/or motorized
operated.
c. Check Valves – 65mm and larger shall be of Class 1035kPa (150
psi) iron body, bronze mounted, flanged ends, globe type silent
check valves and stainless steel spring. Valve shall be designed
to completely close with a 1 psi positive discharge head.
d. Automatic Air Vents - shall be ASTM rated and name-plated, per
ASME Section 4 Code requirements, Spirax Sarco brand, (made
in UK or USA) model no. AE30C and AE50C with dezincification
resistant, copper alloy body, complete with EPDM valve head,
check valve, and lockshield valve, 1/2 and 3/4 in. NPT
respectively.
e. Pressure Gauges - Spirax Sarco brand (made in UK or USA) or
equivalent, with cock and U syphone, 1/2 in. NPT, 0-160 psi range,
4 in. diam. Dial.
f. Temperature Gauges - Industrial thermometer with blue spirit liquid,
0-180oF, SIKA brand, Bdr type of immersion tube, made in USA.
g. Drain (Ball) Valves shall be threaded end, bronze body, 25mm
NPT inlet, KITZ brand, 600 W.O.G.
h. Motor Operated Control Valves
Materials, connections, and pressure ratings shall conform to
requirements of this specification.
- 200mm and larger – Valves shall be modulating electrically
operated, 2-way or 3-way as required, with a range ability of

50 to 1, shall be flanged and shall be equipped with a hand
wheel with disk position indicator mounted adjacent to the
valve, to allow manual positioning of the valve in the absence
of control power.
i. Strainers
- All strainers shall be the “Y” type unless indicated otherwise
and shall have a water working pressure suitable for the
pressure classification of the piping system in which installed.
- Strainer 50mm and smaller shall be bronze body type rated
for 1035 kPag (150 psi) (minimum) with screwed ends,
perforated 20 mesh stainless steel screen, machined screen
seat and screwed plug blow off outlet.
- Strainers 65mm and larger shall be cast iron or Semi Steel
“Y” body type with raised face flanged ends, perforated
stainless steel screen (2mm perforations) through 100mm
pipe size and 4mm perforation of all pipe sizes larger than
100mm) machine screen seat and blowoff outlet with full size
gate valve.
- Strainers shall be installed at the suction of all pumps as
shown in the drawings.
- Unless an integral strainer is provided, a strainer shall be
installed immediately upstream of all sensitive devices.
j. Flexible Pipe Connectors
- Flexible connection for the system shall be rubberized
constructed of 320 stainless steel wire braid. The connector
shall be designed for working pressure of not less than 300
psi and temperatures up to 100°C. Brand should be Tozen,
made in Thailand.

3.4 EXECUTION

3.4.1 GENERAL

- Install in accordance with manufacturer’s instruction.


- Automatic air vents shall be installed with gate valves.
- All valves installed in horizontal piping system shall have the
stems and test points at or above the centerline of the pipe.
Valve handwheels shall be oriented when installed to provide
maximum accessibility.
- Valves up to 50mm diameter; screwed connections.
- Valves over 50mm diameter; flanged connections.
- Provide butterfly and check valves throughout the piping
systems where shown and where necessary to properly

regulate and control the systems. Valves shall be the full size
of the lines and shall be designed for low pressure drop.
- Flexible pipe connections shall be installed, at pump suction
and discharges and at other locations shown on the
drawings.

SECTION IV - PIPE THERMAL INSULATION

4.1 DESCRIPTION:

4.1.1 The works required under this section consist of the supply,
installation, testing and commissioning of the thermal insulation for
mechanical systems and associated equipment and materials.

4.2 QUALITY ASSURANCE

4.2.1 Industry Reference Standards – The following specifications and


standards are incorporated into and become a part of this
Specification by reference. Except where a specific date is given the
issue in effect (including amendments, addenda, revisions,
supplements and errata) on the date of invitation for bids, shall
apply. In the text such specifications and standards are referenced
by basic designation only.

4.3 PRODUCTS

4.3.1 AP Armafex Pipe Insulation or equivalent with higher quality, black


flexible elastomeric thermal insulation, expanded closed-cell
structure, 2 in. (50mm) thick.
4.3.2 Insulation products meet NFPA requirements for Flame Spread
Rating 25, Smoke Developed Rating 50, and Fuel Contributed 50.
4.3.3 Supports for insulated piping shall be outside the insulation. Inserts
shall be provided at hangers. Inserts shall be same materials and
shall be 50mm longer than the pipe supports.
4.3.4 Where sheet material has to be used, apply and secure to the
pipework with proprietary adhesive. All joints shall be secured with
adhesive and sealed so as to maintain a continuous vapor barrier.
4.3.5 Insulate fittings and valves with mitered segments of insulation as
described for pipe. Maintain insulation thickness.
4.3.6 Apply two (2) coats of proprietary vinyl tape finish. 0.40mm thick
Stainless steel cladding as required where exposed to outdoor
conditions.
4.3.7 Cut and roll sheeting to the required sizes with beaded transfer joints
and 25mm overlapping circumferential joints.

4.3.8 Longitudinal joints faced away from view.
4.3.9 Fixed with aluminum straps. Do not violate vapor barrier or use
selftapping screw.
4.3.10 Cut sheet to form lobster back segments for curved surfaces.
4.3.11 Seal all holes.
4.3.12 Seal joints with sealing compound for piping exposed to weather or
moisture.
4.3.13 Seal up all penetrations for gages, instrument drains and vents.

4.4 EXECUTION

4.4.1 Examination

a) Verify that piping has been tested before applying insulation


materials.
b) Verify that surfaces are clean, foreign material removed, and dry.

4.5 GENERAL

4.5.1 Examination
a) Install materials in accordance with manufacturer’s instruction.
b) Samples shall not be used for securing insulation. Insulation and
vapor barrier shall be continuous through wall, ceiling, floor and
roof openings and sleeves, except for fire/smoke dampers.
c) Installation by skilled tradesmen experienced and competent in
this type of work.
d) Clean all surfaces thoroughly of rust, grease, oil and dirt, then
apply with primer epoxy paint prior to application of insulation.
e) Complete all pressure and leak testing prior to application of
insulation.
f) Make insulation continuous with joints firmly butted together,
cold racking eliminated and vapor barrier for cold pipes sealed.
g) Allow for thermal movement.

4.6 CLEANING

At the time scheduled for final inspection, the finished surface of all
exposed insulation shall be clean without any stains or blemishes.

SECTION V - WATER PUMPS INSTALLATION

5.1 DESCRIPTION

The works required under this section consists of the supply, installation, testing and
commissioning of the centrifugal water pumps and associated equipment and materials.

5.2 QUALITY ASSURANCE

5.2.1 Industry Reference Standards – The following specifications and


standards are incorporated into and become a part of this Specification by
reference. Except where a specific date is given the issue in effect
(including amendments, addenda, revisions, supplements and errata) on
the date of invitation for bids, shall apply. In the text such specifications
and standards are referenced by basic designation only.

5.2.2 Acceptable Manufacturers: Products of the following manufacturers, which


comply with these specifications are acceptable.
- Ebara Pumps made in Japan or equivalent with higher quality, made
in Japan& USA only
- Viking Pumps or equivalent with higher quality, made in USA.

5.2.3 Performance Requirements


- Capacity as per manufacturers rating as specified in the drawing and
BOQ.
- Efficiency: Minimum pumping efficiency of 80%.

5.3 PRODUCT

5.3.1 Base Mounted Pumps


- Casing: Class 30 close grained, high tensile strength cast iron suitable
for 200 psi working pressure.
- Flanges shall be 175 psi ANSI.
- Pump flanges shall be drilled, tapped and fitted for gauge
connections.
- Pump volute shall be supplied with plugged vent and drain tappings.
- Impeller: bronze and stainless construction. Impeller shall be keyed to
shaft with stainless steel key and lock-nut arrangement.
- Impeller shall be dynamically balanced for quiet/smooth operation.
- Impeller diameter shall not exceed 85% of the casings capacity.
- Bearings: Bearings shall be re-greaseable ball or roller type.
 Provision for purging or flushing through the bearing surface
shall be practicable.
 Inspection shall be via removable bearing cover.
 Bearings shall be rated for 200,000 hours L-10 life.

- Shaft: Shaft shall be 18-8 stainless steel.
- Seal: Mechanical type with ceramic seal and carbon seal ring, suitable
for 107°C (225°F) maximum continuous operating temperature.
- An extra set of mechanical seals for each pump shall be supplied to
the Owner.
- Drive: Flexible coupling with coupling guard.
- Pump and motor shall be aligned by the manufacturer and verified on
site by the manufacturer after installation.
- Written statement shall be submitted after installation verifying
alignment.
- Base frame: Hot dipped galvanized structural steel fabrication,
incorporating stainless steel grade 304 drip tray below pump
components subject to sweating or leakage.
- Motor: Motor shall have the capacity to prevent overloading with the
pump operating at any point on the characteristics curve up to a
minimum of 150% of the specified flow rate. Motor shall be totally
enclosed fan cooled (TEFC) and energy efficient type.
- Motor shall be suitable variable frequency drive or soft starter
depending upon the specification on the drawings & BOQ.
 Enclose terminal block in terminal box to NFPA 70.
 Electrical Characteristics: 460 volts, 3 phase, 60Hz.

5.4 EXECUTION
5.4.1 Installation
- Install in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.
- Provide for connection to electrical service.
- Align pumps on concrete foundations and sub-bases. Level, grout,
and bolt in place.
- Install units on vibration isolators as indicated on the BOQ
- Provide flange connections for pipework.
- Pumps shall be supported independently of the piping system.
- Install identification labeling.
- Install drainage pipework from pump drain trays to nearest drain
connection point.

5.4.2 Manufacturer's Field Services


Provide services of factory trained representatives to leak test, start-up,
calibrate controls and provide instruction on operation and maintenance.

5.4.3 Demonstration And Instructions


Demonstrate system operation and verify specified performance.

SECTION VI – AIR DUCT INSTALLATION
6.1 DUCT INSTALLATION
6.1.1 Galvanized steel
It is the preferred material except aluminum or stainless steel which may be
used depending on application.
- Duct fittings shall be factory fabricated.
- Cross break or bead rectangular ductwork (Fig 1-8 of SMACNA).
- Minimum rectangular gage is gage#24.
- Round and oval duct shall be spiral with metal gage as per
manufacturer’s recommendations.

6.1.2 Flexible Ducts


- Use only on connections between supply air diffusers and the low-
pressure supply air ductwork.
- Limit length to 1 m (3 ft) maximum per length.
- Penetration at firewalls is prohibited.

6.1.3 Insulation
9. Cross linked polyolefin thermoplastic is the required material for duct and pipe
insulation.
10. All insulation shall meet the 25/50 Flame spread/smoke development rating.
11. Insulation should have a minimum thickness of 25mm
12. Insulation exposed to outside weather shall be provided with stainless steel
cladding of 0.4mm thickness.

6.2 MANDATORY REQUIREMENT


- Minimum duct size is 200 mm x 150 mm for rectangular; 150mm diameter for
round ducts.
- Install manual opposed blade balancing dampers on all sub-mains, and
branches of ductworks.
- Supply air diffusers, return air registers, and exhaust air registers shall be
provided with opposed blade volume dampers.
- All ductworks passing thru 2-HR or greater rated fire walls shall be provided
with listed fire dampers.
- All ductworks passing thru the smoke partitions or horizontal exits, shall be
provided with listed smoke dampers regardless of the wall fire rating.
- All ductworks shall be pressure tested before application of insulation.
Smoke or light testing will not be accepted.

6.3 CONTROL ACTUATOR


- Use automatic control valves and dampers with electric actuators. Pneumatic
actuators are not acceptable.

- Use modulating actuators, Belimo brand model LMS230-SR, 5Nm with
matching digital thermostat controller, Belimo brand or equivalent with higher
quality.

6.4 MISCELLANEOUS MATERIALS


- Ductworks shall be provided with adequate hangers and supports. Steel
supports shall be structural steel ASTM A 36/A 36M, plates, shapes, and
bars.
- Hangers shall be supported on the building structure by expansion concrete
inserts.
- Expansion anchors shall be used only on concrete slabs 100mm thick and
thicker.
- Vibration Isolators shall be rubber-in-shear, spring mounts, neoprene pad
mounts, hangers all suitable for Seismic Zone 4. Please see complete
specification on the BOQ.

SECTION VII - INSTALLATION OF CHILLERS, COOLING TOWERS, AIR HANDLING


UNITS, FAN COIL UNITS, VENTILATION EQUIPMENT, GENSET &
THEIR ACCESSORIES.

7.1 DESCRIPTION
The works required under this section consists of the supply, installation, testing and
commissioning of the Chillers, Cooling Towers, Air Handling Units, Fan Coil Units,
Ventillation equipment, Genset and its associated equipment and materials.

7.2 QUALITY ASSURANCE

7.2.1 Industry Reference Standards – The following specifications and standards


are incorporated into and become a part of this Specification by reference.
Except where a specific date is given the issue in effect (including
amendments, addenda, revisions, supplements and errata) on the date of
invitation for bids, shall apply. In the text such specifications and standards
are referenced by basic designation only.

7.2.2 Acceptable Manufacturers: Products of the following manufacturers, which

7.3.1 Installation

- Align equipment on concrete foundations and sub-bases. Level, grout,

- Install identification labeling.
- Install drainage pipework from AHUs and FCUs stainless steel drain
trays to nearest drain connection point.

7.3.2 Manufacturer's Field Services


Provide services of factory trained representatives to leak test, start-up,
calibrate controls and provide instruction on operation and maintenance.

7.3.3 Demonstration And Instructions


- Demonstrate system operation and verify specified performance.
- Manufacturers of equipment should provide on-the-job training for the
operators

7.3.4 Testing & Commissioning


- Testing & commissioning should be in accordance with ASHRAE
Guideline 0-2005 – “The Commissioning Process” and should last at
least 1 month until desired operating data is achieved for all
mechanical equipment.
- Mechanical Contractor should submit data, in daily basis showing the
actual readings, to the Duty Free Facilities Management and to the
HVAC & Mechanical Consultant.

Within a non-extendible period of three (3) calendar days from receipt of notice that the bidder is
declared as Lowest Calculated Bid (LCB), the Bidder shall submit in two (2) copies the following
documentary requirements:
1. Latest income and business tax returns in the form specified in the BDS under ITB
Clause 28.2(b);
a. 2015 Income Tax Return (form 1701/1702).
b. Business Tax Return (forms 2550M and 2550Q) for the last six (6) months
(October 2015 to March 2016) prior to opening of Bids filed thru Electronic Filing
and Payment System (EFPS).
Only tax returns filed and taxes paid through the BIR Electronic Filing and Payment
System (EFPS) shall be accepted.
2. Valid and current Certificate of PhilGEPS Registration. ITB Clause 28.2(c);
3. Other documents as per ITB and BDS Clause 31.4(g):
a. Construction schedule and S-curve
b. Manpower schedule
c. Construction methods
d. Equipment utilization schedule
