NIAGARA COLLEGE
 2-YEAR COURSE, Educational Assistant for Special-Needs Support (EA-SNS).
 A program in the educational studies for employment in the work field which a
caretaker related for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
 Currently attending the college course to achieve my diploma for a full-time
career.
 Understanding work development with interviews and resume build-up on how to
incorporate them in the work-field to become an asset for the business.
 Being involved with work-related placements to get a full-on experience in both
fields (district school board or day program).

EXPERIENCES

ASSISTANT, DEWITT CARTER PUBLIC SCHOOL/ SCHOOL PLACEMENT
 Help assist with students in a classroom setting during the school week.
 Giving helpful assistance on activities and assignments for students who have a
developmental and/or intellectual difficulties while keeping a watchful eye of the
school environment.
 Keeping barriers away which can interfere the teaching process for both the
teacher and students in the classroom.
 Ensuring that students are not distracted and staying safe within the school
premise.
 Knowing which plans will be improvised accordingly for the student to accomplish
the assignment.

JANUARY 2020- MARCH 2020


ASSISTANT, COMMUNITY LIVING/ ADULT PLACEMENT
 Help aid and assist with adult individuals in both sections of the Community
Complex.
 One day in the Recreational Program and the other in the Day Program during
my placement schedule.
 In the Recreational Program, I cooperate with the special needs with indoor
activities with puzzles/games and organize their lunch hour.
 The Day Program is slightly different as it gives special individuals the helpful
tools and an opportunity to do a variety of inspiring events.
 Can be both exciting and anticipating for the individuals to learn for the relevance
of both independence and hobby wise. Such as cooking/baking as an example.

VOLUNTEER EXPERIENCE
JUNE 2019- PRESENT
ART TEACHER, COMMUNITY LIVING
 Job position and responsibilities are giving the special needs the basic learning
skills in their ability to draw and paint for indoor activities.
 Ensuring that the necessary needs are given to their expectations in a safe and
well manner in the environment that they’re provided with; help get an
understanding on the creative process.
 Perform a variety of Arts and Crafts, give individuals drawing lessons and
practices.
 Shared their experiences they have learned by following easy steps with the
drawing and building process.
 Developing a friendly atmosphere where everyone has the involvement with
visual-arts activities.

CERTIFICATES
DECEMBER 2019
CPI BLUE CARD (NONVIOLENT CRISIS INTERVENTION)
 Nonviolent Crisis Intervention or (NCI), an 8-hour training program which is
mandatory for the Educational Assistant work-field placement.
 Helped specify techniques for therapeutic intervention for any given situation that
will be upfront by an individual.
 Blue Cards are validated up to a year until it needs a renewal before it reaches
the expiration date.

SEPTEMBER 2019
WHMIS CERTIFICATE
 WHMIS, or (Workplace Hazardous Materials Informative System), a training
module.
 An additional course to help identified the disciplinary requirements as an
employee or any member in the same industry or corporation to comprehend
with those in the working environment.
 Understand safety hazards and procedures to inform and eliminate hazardous
materials.
 Knowing each position (such as Supervisor, Employer, Worker) and what are
their responsibilities in the business.

 Proficient with PowerPoint.
 Plan Organizing/ Managing.

 Arts and Crafts.

ACTIVITIES
 I had volunteering hours in participation since June of 2019 at Community Living
during my acceptance.
 My passion of hobbies and interests were drawing and music which I’ve taken in
the past.
 Taken consideration to teach with the special-needs inhabitants which appeases
their interest of involvement.
 Music, I learn piano by heart, banjo and the ukulele.
 Give entertainment value to the individuals as a source of mental therapy which
transitions from anxiety and stress to a reduction for calm and relaxation.
