Re-Opening of Schools Procedures - Parents

COLLEGE

The safety and well being of all students, parents and staff are of great concern in these
times and I ask for your cooperation in the procedures Hillcrest Schools intend to adopt for
the healthy and safety of all stakeholders.

I have a few general points to make:

 We intend to start school at the usual times.

 The school will not be able to provide Transport to Day Scholars due to a number of
challenges - Social distancing on our buses, the current lack of fuel and the need to
sanitise the buses after each use all serve to make this unviable. Any inconvenience
caused as a result is sincerely regretted.
 You will receive some guidelines regarding Covid-19 prevention for homes. Please try
and adhere to them.
 You will need to provide masks or face shields for your children. The masks need to be
made from 3 ply material. See point B2 if your child is a Boarder.

A. Before Leaving Home (Day Scholars)

1. A Health Assessment Form will be sent to you by email. Please print and complete a
copy for each week. The completed form should be submitted to the school.
2. Check your child for Covid-19 symptoms and fill in the Health Assessment form.
3. Ensure your child has a face mask or face shield.
4. Ensure that your child has their books and stationery that they are likely to use for
that day.
5. If you want to provide your child with a hand sanitiser etc to further protect them,
please do so.

B. Before Leaving Home (Boarders)

1. Ensure that your child has the right amount of clothing and tuck.
2. Please provide 5 well labelled face masks each made of 3 ply material and a single
solid colour. The masks should be labelled with the child’s name and form.
3. Examination classes are encouraged to bring a laptop or tablet to facilitate work sent
online.
4. Children are encouraged to have their own water bottle.
5. A Health Assessment Form will need to be filled in and brought to the hostel.

C. Arrival at the School (Day Scholars)

1. Entry into the College is via the top gate.
2. Please do not leave your car.
3. Students temperature will be checked, in the car park, whilst inside the car and it will
be recorded on their Health Assessment Form.
4. Students to disembark and make their way into the College via the small gate. Refer
to Re-opening of Schools Procedure for Students.
5. Parents will leave the car park via the main gate.
D. Arrival at Farmcrest (Boarders)
1. Temperature checks and hand sanitisation will be done in the car park of the hostel.
2. You can help your child unpack his belongings from the car and let them carry their
belongings to the hostel. Parents will not be allowed into the hostels.
3. The teacher on duty and hostel matrons will direct the students where to go.
4. The Farmcrest Superintendent and Hostel Parents will go through a repetitive
routine to establish health protocols to be observed by all students and this will be
communicated to them.

E. Departure from the College

1. Students can be picked up at 4.00pm every day.
2. Entry into the College is via the top gate and exit via the main gate.
3. Please remain in your cars.
