Praxis Core Analysis
Praxis Core Analysis
Jordan Bachman
The Praxis Core Exams are a requirement for my continuation of the Education program.
I will be transferring to the University of Nevada Las Vegas to obtain my Bachelor’s degree. The
passing scores for the 3 different subjects are 150 for the math portion, 162 for the writing
Exam Preparation
I began practicing for the Math exam since I believed this may be my weakest subject of
the 3. I used the Khan Academy website to create a road map for studying and utilized their
timed practice quiz as well. Once I completed their recommended study steps and took the
practice quiz, I proceeded to take the Teacher’s Test Prep practice exam for math. Khan
Academy recommended I studied for 2 hours a week before the test, but I chose to do it all on
one night and then took the practice exam the following morning. Next, I studied for the reading
exam. I used Khan Academy’s site to prepare a study plan since it was a user-friendly website
that seemed to assist my math preparation. I did the same steps as before by fulfilling the study
timeline Khan Academy recommended and then taking the practice exam the following morning.
Lastly, I studied for the writing portion of the Praxis exams. I used Khan Academy again to
study since I enjoyed the ease of using the site. I followed the study plan going through example
questions and reviewing the answers I got wrong in to better understand the content I was doing
poorly on.
Exam Results
In Math, I scored in the 87% range, which means that I’m likely to pass the Math section
when I take the official Praxis Core Exam. In Reading, I scored in the 59% range, which means I

To further prepare me for the exams, I plan to utilize the various online websites provided
to study each subject. For the Math portion, I will specifically focus on Data Interpretation and
Representation, Statistics, and Probability. This section of the math exam was highlighted as my
weakest area in math. I scored in the 76% range, so I am borderline passing this section. To
prepare for that, I will be using the Teacher’s Test Prep to teach me all of the key subject matter
knowledge needed for that domain. Since I did not do very well in my Reading practice exam, I
will need to study this portion a lot more. I plan to go back through Khan Academy’s study guide
to read the explanations for certain questions. The worst section was the “Craft, Structure, and
Language Skills”. I believe where I struggled in this section was understanding passage
organization. This will be a skill I plan to focus my attention on to prepare for the real exam. For
the writing portion of the exam, I plan to use practice prompts in a timed setting to prepare
myself for this portion of the exam. I feel as though I am ready for the multiple-choice section,
but the writing portion had me struggling. I need to prepare more in a timed setting, so I can
