STUDENT ONLINE CLASSES ETIQUETTE

ADDITIONAL GROUND RULES


ATTENDANCE

 If you have committed to attend the online class, please come on time. If you cannot make it for
one reason or another, please send a message to the teacher at least an hour beforehand so
another student can be given your slot.
 Be responsible to find out important points about the class you missed, groupings, assignments
and other work that needs to be submitted.
 If you have scheduled long absences, please discuss it with your teacher first for proper action.

PERSONAL ATTIRE, APPEARANCE, AND GROOMING

 Follow the civilian dress code of USJR.


 Wear shirts and blouses with sleeves. Avoid those with plunging necklines.
 Follow standard professional personal appearance and grooming guidelines when attending
online sessions.

ASSIGNMENTS, EXAMINATIONS, QUIZZES, AND ACTIVITIES

 Submit on time.
 Do not copy outputs from online resources or your classmates. Any plagiarized submission will
be penalized.
 If you are asked to by the teacher copy certain descriptions/definitions from online resources,
be sure to include your source.
 Outputs and other submissions with no names shall not be checked.
 When submitting outputs through E-mail please follow this format in the subject field:
FAMILY NAME-SUBJECT CODE-TOPIC for example -- PACUBAS-3171-ORG. SRUCTURE
 Late outputs if accepted will be penalized.

BACKGROUND

 Avoid distracting and provocative background elements that can be seen in the frame behind
you.
 Avoid having pets in the area during the class session.

BEHAVIOR & DEPORTMENT

 Be considerate of all the other participants in the session.


 Find a quiet and comfortable space where you cannot be disturbed during the session or ask
your family/household members to cooperate in providing this quiet space for you.
 Put your cellphones on silent mode and avoid taking calls during the session.

 Participate in the discussion whenever possible. Raise your hand and wait to be acknowledged
before speaking.
 Use the chat box feature of the app to ask questions any time during the discussion, so you do
not forget your question or change your mind about asking your question. Shared insights on
the discussion or lesson will be appreciated.
 Selling anything to the teacher or to the other students participating in the session is totally
prohibited.
 Cracking of inappropriate jokes is strongly discouraged.
 Avoid unnecessary or distracting gestures and facial expressions during the session. Please do
not do your personal appearance and grooming necessities during the online class.
 Avoid frequently leaving the session for personal breaks. We will try to hold sessions for no
more than an hour and thirty minutes. If the session lasts longer due to signal complications, a
break can be agreed upon or another session can be arranged.
 Only drinking water for hydration will be allowed during the session. Eating shall be strictly
prohibited unless the session goes beyond the 1-and-a-half hour standard session length.

GROUP CHATS

 Group chats created by the teacher should only be used for class-related messages, discussions,
and questions.
 Use polite language at all times. Jokes, unrelated or inappropriate comments, rude remarks,
insults, and bullying statements are strictly prohibited and will result to the student being
removed from the group chat.
 Acknowledge messages sent by the teacher with an affirmative statement such as: “Okay”, “Got
it”, or “Copy that.”
 Do not use or send GIFs to the group chat.
 Do not take a screenshot of conversations or messages within the group chat without asking
permission from the teacher.

INSTRUCTIONS

 Follow instructions provided closely to avoid penalties on your outputs and activities.

LANGUAGE

 Use polite language only. Rude, vulgar, snide, off-putting, insulting, and bullying remarks are
totally prohibited and shall result in the student being asked to leave the session.

MATERIALS

 Always have hard or soft copy notes, notebooks, paper and pens ready and within reach during
the session.
MEDIUM OF INSTRUCTION

 English.
 The dialect will be used occasionally to emphasize certain points.

MICROPHONE, CAMERA & OTHER GADGETS

 Mute it if you are not speaking or presenting or until you are acknowledged by the teacher.
Raise your hand and unmute it only when you have been called to answer.
 Turn-off your camera if you are allowed to leave the session for breaks or if you need to boost
your signal.
 Check that your desk ring lights, speakers, headsets and other gadgets are functioning and
positioned properly for maximum use.
