For Mamma Mia!

The Musical, my vision for the costumes of the cast are mainly casual

and comfortable clothing due to the setting being an island in Greece. The time period of this

musical is early the early 2000s. Some fashion trends that I incorporated were large sunglasses,

jean skirts, overalls, halter tops, cargo and capri pants. The color scheme of the clothing pieces

contain a lot of whites and blues, as well as floral or hawaiin print. I used these colors and prints

because they represent Greece’s beautiful beaches and iconic white architecture. Some

common clothing pieces for the male characters include swim trunks, tank tops, and t-shirts.

The most used type of clothing for the female characters are dresses because they capture

island life perfectly with how flowy and simple they are. For the “Donna and the Dynamos”

performance, their group costume is inspired by ‘70s fashion due to the bellbottoms and flared

sleeves.
