    Solid Mechanics – It is a branch of applied mechanics that deals with


    behavior of solid bodies subjected to various types
    of loadings.
    Two Types
    1) Mechanics of Rigid Bodies (Engineering Mechanics)
    In Mechanics, any body that does not change shape
    or so small it can be neglected.

    2) Mechanics of Deformable Bodies (Strength of Material)


    In Mechanics, any body that changes its shape and
    volume while being acted upon by any kind of external force.
