Course Title Art Appreciation
Course Description Art Appreciation is a three-unit course that develops students ability to appreciates analyze, and critique works of
art through interdisciplinary and multimodal approaches, this course equips students with a broad knowledge of
the practical, historical, philosophical, and social relevance of the arts in order to hone students’ ability to
articulate their understanding of the arts. The course also develops students’ competency in researching and
curating art as well as conceptualizing, mounting, and evaluating art productions. The course aims to develop
students’ genuine appreciation for Philippine arts by providing them opportunities to explore the diversity and
richness and their rootedness in Filipino culture.

OBJECTIVES OF THE BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN FORESTRY


1. Educate professional foresters equipped with the social, economic and environmental dimensions of forestry
resources.
2. Develop competent researchers and academicians in order to advance the growth of forestry science.
3. Train leaders in proper conservation and development of forest resources.

PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES


Graduates of the BSF program are professionals who:
1. have developed the scientific habit of thought and forestry entrepreneurial skills
(COGNITIVE/PSYCHOMOTOR/ SKILLS);
2. were globally competitive professionals with entry – level competencies in technical forestry
(PSYCHOMOTOR/ SKILLS);
3. were honed to understand and apply the processes and techniques of identifying, diagnosing and analyzing
problems (COGNITIVE) and;
4. have acquired the ability and techniques in designing, packaging and applying technologies needed in the
development and conservation of the forest, soil and water resources
(COGNITIVE/PSYCHOMOTOR/SKILLS/AFFECTIVE/VALUES)

1. Generate and share knowledge relevant to specific fields in the study of forestry.
2. Formulate and implement of forestry developments plans and programs.
3. Conduct comprehensive assessment and accounting of forest ecosystem services and resources and social
processes using appropriate ICT and related tools and methods.
4. Assess climate change impacts, risks and vulnerabilities, and to prepare climate change adaptation, mitigation
and disaster risk reduction plan.
5. Formulate, package, implement, and evaluate forest management-related research, development and extension
programs, projects and policies.
At the end of the course, the students are expected to:
Learning Outcomes 1. get oriented with the subject background and the mandates of the university;

3. develop basic skills on seed production, treatments in hastening seed germination, seed testing and seed
storage & protection;
4. analyze and synthesize the management strategies and approaches applicable to tree and non-tree nurseries;
5. apply effectively the principles of establishing tree and non-tree nurseries, plantation and agroforestry farm;
6. come up with a nursery plan that showcases their skills in nursery establishment;
7. employ the knowledge and skills in performing initial timber stand improve for tree and non-tree
plantation.

Classroom Policies 1. Attendance. The total number of attendance will be based on the total number of outputs (1 output= 1 day).
Status of attendance and points will depend on the promptness of submission:
a. on time submission = present (1 pt.)
b. beyond deadline submission = late (0.5 pt.)
c. non- submission = absent (0 pt.)
2. Class Participation. Students must be active on the chat group created solely for the course for updates
whenever necessary.
3. Examination. Online examination is much encouraged. Make-up exam will only be given for those who have
valid reasons.
4. Submission of Requirements. Class requirements are to be submitted on time. Reasonable deduction/s will be
imposed for late submission depending on instructor’s discretion.
5. Intellectual Integrity. Cheating and plagiarizing are strictly prohibited (dishonesty shall be dealt with
accordingly).
6. Proper Conduct. Observe proper decorum at all times. Student’s attitude towards instructor, classmates and
even task accomplishment will be the basis for the work ethics grade.
