Dear Friends,
A few weeks ago, I saw an email from the Presbytery that was offering free resources to any church
interested. I decided to follow up on the offer and inquire about the books that we could receive at
Edgewood. Thinking of my church family, I was able to secure 20 copies of Books of Common Worship, a
Daily Prayer guide, and 10 copies of Growing in God’s Love, a Story Bible for Children. To request a copy,
please email the Digital Discipleship Team – ddm@epclife.com and note which title you are requesting.

These materials are on a first-come, first-serve basis and are the result of a generous grant to our
Presbytery and denomination. At this point, we can only give one of each per family, until all resources are
gone.
Here is an overview of each:
Growing in God’s Love

Help nurture the faith of the children in your life with Growing in God’s Love: A Story Bible. This engaging
resource features 150 popular Bible stories that are organized by 13 themes, including Strong Women and
Men; Listening for God; Parables; Healings and Miracles; and more. Growing in God’s Love features diverse
artwork from more than twenty artists to appeal to a variety of ages and learning styles. Three reflection
questions—Hear, See, Act—are included at the end of each story to help children further ponder the
message of the story.

Growing in God’s Love: A Story Bible is ideal for children ages 4-8, and it is perfect for Sunday school
classrooms, children’s sermons, vacation Bible school, and gift-giving at baptism or other milestones.

Did you know there’s a unit-based children's curriculum you can use with this story Bible? Growing
in God’s Love: A Story Bible Curriculum invites children and their leaders to wonder, play, and
connect as they engage and wrestle with the stories of the Bible. Growing in God's Love: A Story
Bible Curriculum includes intergenerational activities as well and is great to use in a church setting,
online, or at home with the help of free, customizable at-home kit guides.

Book of Common Worship, Daily Prayer

The Book of Common Worship, Daily Prayer is ideal for the practice of daily prayer in congregations, small
groups, and family or personal devotion. Featuring newly revised content from the Book of Common
Worship, the primary worship book for the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), this engaging and accessible
resource includes simple services for daily prayer, a complete psalter as well as other biblical songs and
ancient hymns, a treasury of prayers for various occasions in human life, and selected readings from the
Revised Common Lectionary (Sunday and daily readings) and the two-year daily lectionary (expanded). It
features a handsome leatherette cover and two sewn-in ribbons that can be used as bookmarks.
The Book of Common Worship, Daily Prayer provides a basic pattern of prayer that can be led by any
member of the church and used for personal reflection, household worship, small group gatherings,
weekday services, or church meetings and retreats. It is also an ideal gift for those baptized or confirmed,
new members, seminarians, or newly ordained deacons, ruling elders, or pastors.
Tithes and Offerings During the Pandemic

We have certainly missed each other while our beloved EPC has had to
rely on online services, meetings, and ministries during this
unprecedented time in our country and world. While we have not been
able to give tithes and offerings in our worship services during this time,
please know that your gifts are so important as we continue to cover the
church’s expenses and begin preparations for re-opening.

During these past several weeks, we have completed repair on the roof of
the sanctuary, purchased upgrades to our broadcasting software
capabilities, covered overhead and salaries, and begun to gather cost data
to take the steps necessary to safely re-open our church for worship
services.

We have an online giving platform through the Presbyterian Mission

Exchange. You may give there by going to the church’s website,
www.epclife.com, and clicking on the “make a donation or pledge” button
near the bottom of the screen. Gifts may be given using bank draft or
credit card and can be set up on a recurring schedule.

If you would rather not use the online method, you may mail your tithes
and offerings directly to the church. Please mark your envelope to the
attention of the Financial Secretary, Wayne Braddy. Wayne will make the
deposit on behalf of the church each week on Thursday. You may also drop
your gift off at the church office and give to Deanna who will forward it to
Wayne. Deanna is in the office in the mornings, Monday through Thursday.

Thank you all for continuing to support EPC. We look forward to

worshiping with you in our sanctuary soon!
