Be Prepared Before the Virtual SAMI Summer Course Starts


Guideline for our webinar/meeting tips for attendees and test Zoom prior to the day of the
webinar.

During the Webinar: Tips for Attendees


• Accessing the presentation slides:
▪ One day before the webinar, you will receive an email with the presentation slides and some
reminders. Please check your junk mail folder if you do not see an email in your inbox. If you
have trouble accessing the slides, contact us before the webinar begins.
• Sound and visuals: Our webinars begin promptly and Live at 9 PM and 2 PM Jakarta time (Jakarta,UTC
+ 7:00) , Please make the proper time zone conversion to determine the start time in your city via
https://datetime360.com/est-jakarta-time/.
• Audio issues and closed captions: If you have audio issues, please check your Zoom audio
settings and your computer speakers. If you experience audio difficulties or would like to view
supplementary text, you can display closed captions , please check https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-
us/articles/115003498783-Viewing-Closed-Captions (or “show subtitle”).
• Finding the Q&A box: The Q&A box can be opened through your Zoom menu. This is how you will
submit content-related questions for the presenter.
a. You can ask questions to SAMI Resource person via chat box. Begin your text with “[ASK]” to
indicate it as a question to the presenter. Send it to facilitator / Moderator (or everyone in the room if
you prefer to do so).
b. You can ask directly to the Speaker / Resource person in live Q n A Session by permission to the
facilitator/ Moderator
c. The Facilitator/ Moderator will try to cover as many questions as possible depending on the allotted
time. In case, some of the questions have not been answered attendees may want to discuss with the
Speaker(s) off-line.

• Rules for The Meeting Session


a. Your microphone will be muted during the meeting session/ Webinar.
b. At the end of the Speaker / Resources person presentation, the host will ask you to shares your webcam.
c. You can use your country flag as your virtual background at the first day of SAMI Session meeting,
and during the course you can use SAMI Virtual Background (please check your email)
d. You are encouraged to keep an eye on during the Webinar/meeting sessiob and Q&A Session.

• Basic Structure and Time Allocation for every meeting session/ webinar
5 Minutes : Opening from Moderator
40 Minutes : for Material Delivery from Speaker
20 Minutes : Question and answer session
5 minutes : Closing (Certificate and Souvenir from Organizer to speaker)
15 minutes : Quiz and Games interactive
Please join at least 5 minutes before webinar/ meeting session started and always be present during the course material
delivery as well as the Q&A session.
QUIZ and Games
After the course ends everyday, you can join SAMI interactive quiz / games will be hosted by the committee (15
minutes only)

• Join a test Zoom session from your device prior to the day of the webinar through https://zoom.us/test

• Please join the webinar / meeting room 5-10 minutes early to minimize last minute issues.
• Ensure that your device meets the system requirements for running Zoom.

Webinar/Meeting Session Recordings


For applicable webinars, a recording of the webinar presentation will be available
on https://drive.google.com/drive/u/3/folders/1hiKBfclSPXDhC-Uo4GJi7eXfba2y-d1t the week following the
conclusion of the live session.

Receiving Continuing Education Credit


In order to receive SAMI Summer course credit, all attendees must:
a. Attend the webinar / Meeting session in Zoom using unique link from registration email/ whatss app group
b. Attend for the full scheduled webinar/meeting session.
c. Successfully complete the Working Group (Essay) and the presentation.
d. Completing the SAMI evalution feedback

All the Invited participants and paid attendees will earn SAMI Sumer course credit upon successful completion of
the webinar and evaluation.

What to expect:
· Photography/videography – we will be capturing footage and images so you can see how wonderful you all
look once the course is over, so please always on your camera during the course
· Contests and competitions – expect hidden treasures and prizes for the best team/snaps
· International community – Participants from all cultures, backgrounds and languages will join us in this
SAMI summer course. Embrace the highly international group. Relax and learn with participants from around the
world.
· Student help – friendly pastoral staff members await your virtual arrival! Many of whom are current or
former IPB University participants. They’re open to chat, help and answer your questions.
One more thing to remind, get social! Tell your friends where you are and what you’re doing on social media leading

GUIDELINE SAMI ESSAY CONTEST 2020

The SAMI Student Essay Competition is the 2nd annual contest held to recognize promising idea and
solution related to sustainability in agri-food management research. This competition is open to all students
attending at SAMI Summer course 2020. At the judges' discretion, a maximum of three winning essays will
receive special award. Additionally, the winning essays will be published in the SAMI Proceeding 2020
with ISBN.

“Creating A Better World with Sustainable Agrifood Management”

PROBLEM FOCUS.

During the transformation of technology from traditional, computerization to digital, there are many
challenges emerge. Some area of discussions bellow might be chosen as the writing topic, which one
is challenge best:
1) Inclusion of smallholder farmers and collaboration system
2) Digital and technology innovation/ added value
3) Markets and/or marketing
4) Products and/or production
5) Agri-business development
6) Value chain development
7) Shaping an enabling development environment
8) Financing issues in agri-food sector
9) Human resource challenges
• Please describe the central problem, the situation in which the problem is embedded and your own role
in addressing the problem.
• Incorporate five most important and/or influential (groups of) stakeholders in the context of the
problem.
• Please give a short description of their respective roles and then use your experience as inspiration
in writing your essay.
• As a special edition, this year’s contest involves action in addition to writing, so that participating in
the contest directly contributes to creating a better world.
• Please note, however, that only the essay itself will be considered in the selection process.
