A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE ?
SUSTAINABLE FUTURE

 THE PROPORTIONATE USE OF OUR

RESOURCES
BREAKDOWN OF GLOBAL LAND COVER
 WHY INDIA?
HUMAN APPROPRIATION OF NET PRIMARY PRODUCTION

This figure shows the global distribution of resource consumption as measured by the
amount of net primary production (NPP) appropriated by humans. Global annual NPP
refers to the total amount of plant growth generated each year. Plant growth may be
measured in terms of grams of carbon used to build stems, leaves and roots. The darker
areas on the map indicate greater appropriation of NPP by humans.

PERCENT OF NET PRIMARY PRODUCTION APPROPRIATED BY
HUMANS

This figure shows human appropriation of net primary production (NPP) as a

percentage of the local NPP. The map provides insight into the percent of plant
resource used by people in an area compared to the amount of plant resource that is
actually available locally.

 So the challenge is :

 “How we can maintain the highest possible production of

food and fibre while still preserving our biological assets
in the face of global change”
 This is can be done only by better management of Earth's
rich biological heritage .

 For the better management we have to understand

patterns of consumption, and how the planetary supply of
plant life relates to the demand for it .
 Understanding the patterns of supply and demand is
critical for identifying areas of severe human impact on
ecosystems and planning for future growth.
 And the INDIA is coming under that regions with greater
demands than available plant-derived resources.

 Thus this regions like INDIA may be more vulnerable to

climate change and other socio-economic impacts in the
near future.
PROJECT:

 To Design and Develop a Model that can support and

feed 45,000 people in a Sustainable fashion.
MAJOR FINDINGS :

 60% OF THE WORLD POPULATION WILL BE SETTLE

DOWN IN URBAN AREAS BY 2030.

 MODERN AGRICULTURE PRACTICE WILL BE THE

LARGEST CONSUMER OF LAND,WATER AND ENERGY
OF THE PLANET.
CONCEPT
CONCEPT ILLUSTRAION
PROFILE OF THE TOWN
 THE IDEA WAS TO CREATE A
NEW LAYER OF SOCIAL INTERACTION
BY PROVIDING SUSTAINABLE LINKAGE BETWEEN
THE SCATTERED URBAN FRAGMENTS FOCUSING
INFRASTRUCTURE AND AGRICULTURE .
 THE VERTICAL FARM BUILDING ALONG WITH CITY
CENTER WILL ACTS AS A CATALYST FOR THE
[ INFRACULTURE : AGRICULTURE ]
CONCEPT
AS IT PROVIDES FOOD, EFFICIENT USE OF WATER, ENERGY
AND MOREOVER IT CATERS THE MAJOR
REQUIREMENT OF A TOWN AS A
RECREATIONAL CENTER WITH A CONCEPT OF
(LIVE+WORK+RECREATE) WITHIN THE
CONVENIENT TRAVELLING DISTANCE OF THE OTHER
MAJOR ATTRACTIONS OF THE DOWNTOWN. .
PROJECT AIMS AND GOALS:
 1.To Design a Model that will comfortably feed the City of 45,000.

 2.To Design a building that caters a Vegetative and non – Vegetative

programme.

 3. Organic Poultry and Fish Farming in an ethical fashion.

 4. Zero emissions.

 5. It must convert gray and black water to drinking water.

 6.To conserve the environmentally important areas.

 7.To ensure the social welfare and security of the society. ( Recreational
spaces, Civic amenities, Housing )
DESIGN FEATURES:

 PEDESTRINISATION OF THE URBAN CORE.

 TO CREATE PEDESTRIAN FRIENDLY LIKANGES TO THE MAJOR

ATTRACTIONS OF THE DOWNTOWN.

 CITY CENTER TOWER CATERING UBRAN FARMING.

 LARGE SCALE VEGETATIVE AND NON VEGETATIVE URBAN

VERTICAL PROGRAMME .

 ECO PLAZA AND RETAIL MARKET STREET.

 ECO CIRCLE STREAM AND RIVESIDE WALK.
