Preface

The conventional way of teaching and learning using textbooks, blackboard and
one-way verbal discussion by the educator is obsolete. New methods of
teaching are now sought after for thorough understanding by the students.

As the popular quote goes- “What you hear, you forget; what you see, you
remember; what you do, you understand.” Modern tools of teaching strive to
engage students by maximum participation and effective understanding.

Seminar is one such effective tool, arranged to discuss a particular topic and
share ideas. It goes beyond passive teaching and ensures participation by all the
members in a team.

Seminars not only prepare a student to face the examinations but make him
corporate ready.
Objectives

Organizing classroom seminars serve numerous objectives-

 Builds interest in students towards that topic
 Ignites thinking and ideas
 Increases knowledge by motivating to read beyond text
 Improves communication skills
 Teaches team building and leadership qualities
 Helps in achieving better results

We aim to attain all the above objectives by conducting Term end seminars
and help students score excellent grades in academics. The skills acquired by
students through participating in such seminar activities will also help them in
career by moulding them into confident professionals.
Methods Adopted
The choice of method for presenting a seminar lies with the student.
They can choose the method they find most comfortable. Often, the
subject in-charge can encourage the students to choose a different
method to break the monotony and also help them learn a different
technique of presentation.

1. Powerpoint presentations- Though conventional, most students

are still not well- versed with the usage of Microsoft office tools.
For presenting seminars, they explore the different available
designs and themes for a given topic. Smart Art, Charts, Design
ideas to name a few.

2.
2. Mind Map-
It is an effective tool for memorizing and retaining concepts. A mind
map is a diagram used to visually organize information. A mind map is
hierarchical and shows relationships among pieces of the whole. It is
often created around a single concept, drawn as an image in the center
of a blank page, to which associated representations of ideas such as
images, words and parts of words are added. Major ideas are connected
directly to the central concept, and other ideas branch out from those
major ideas.
Mind maps can also be drawn by hand, either as "notes" during a
lecture, meeting or planning session.
3. Animations / Doodle
Doodle is the online scheduling software that helps
design video lessons. It is engaging, entertaining and
highly educational tool.

4. Video Lessons – Students can record their own

videos or browse relevant videos and share with
class. It brings out the creativity in them.
