1. Introduction
The units included in both sections of CPF gas & liquid, shall be shutdown according to the
following sequence:
a) Reduce quickly feed of raw gas to turn down rate 25-30% from wells with the closure of
wells via DCS (Throttling choke valves and closure of manual vales of well heads will be
performed later on by Puit dept.) (Cut of raw gas has to be done quickly in the aim to
minimise production of liquids and to minimise saturation of OFF spec facilities)
b) Put in Hold sequences of regenerations and stop duty of hot oil to GA 24-03 A/B and GA
32-04 A/B (Regenerator compressor has to be kept in service to cold down the equipment
used for the service of regeneration)
Align sequences of regeneration of LPG beds in the aim to avoid heating phase
during the activities of Feed reduction and shutdown of CPF (Both vessels have to
be kept in low temperature)
Align sequences of regeneration of Gas beds in the aim to avoid heating phase
during the activities of Feed reduction and shutdown of CPF (All vessels have to be
kept in low temperature)
Align sequences in the aim to have also 1 gas bed regenerated (cold down phase
completed) Sequence of regeneration will start after the pressurization of system 24 in the
aim to perform the regeneration of the second beds before to feed gas in the system 25
c) Stop Expander in the aim to warm up cryogenic unit with the residual feed of gas.
Switch of Operation from Expander mode to J-T Valve mode.
e) Reduce/close as soon as possible duty and temperature of Hot oil to re-boilers units 21,
25, 28 and 32 in order to cold down re-boilers and columns.
(At the same time reduce again the heating of furnaces until the shutdown of all burners)
(Reduce the delivery of hot oil in relation at the new density of hot oil (Low temperature)
When Temperature in hot oil network became low open for few minutes re-boilers of unit
21,25,28 and 32 in the aim to cold down also dead branches of network.
g) Cut the feed of gas inlet unit 28 and keep amine circulation in service to cold down
regeneration section of unit 28 until ambient temperature.
(Temperature profile must decreasing in a progressive manner in the aim avoid thermal
shocks to the exchangers)
h) Reduce residual feed of gas from wells until zero and stop the export gas compressor
i) Stop Off gas compressor and Regeneration gas compressor (without depressurization of
unit 24)
Before start to depressurize the CPF is important to override all following pressure and level
controller:
Override slug catcher low low pressure interlock [Force 20 PI 00001A/B/C (2oo3)]
Override MZLN1-9 low low pressure interlock [Force 20 PI 01C003A/B/C (2oo3)]
Override CAFC wells low low pressure interlock [Force 20 PI 01C001A/B/C (2oo3)]
Override slug catcher low low level interlock [Force 20 LI 00001A/B/C (2oo3)]
Override export line low low pressure interlock [Force 27 PI 00007A/B/C (2oo3)]
Please confirm that no other pilots can generate PSD during the next phase of
depressurization
Put in service fuel gas back up system in the aim to ensure the fully availability of flares
during the phases of depressurization and inerting of all CPF.
(Ref. to Operative instruction attached)
Well department put in place and confirm isolation of MLE CAFC networks.
Perform and confirms isolation of Export pipe lines.
Perform preliminary isolation of CPF in the follow sections.
Isolation of 24” 10” and 8” trunk lines will be put in place as reported in the attached
WMS in charge by Puit Dept.
Performed the isolation of 24” 10” 8” trunk lines and slug catcher they have to be
depressurized with 20-PV-00009C operated by DCS only after the complete
depressurization of all CPF
27-ESDV-0X002
27-ESDV-0X007
21-ESDV-0X001
21-ESDV-0X002
21-ESDV-0X003
Performed the isolation of off gas compressor they will be isolated, depressurized, as
reported in operative manual.
25-ESDV-00002
25-ESDV-00003
Performed the isolation of gas train it will be depressurized by DCS with the 25-PV-
00094 and 25-PV-00002 in Auto mode and reducing the pressure with the reduction of
SP of JT valve only (This will ensure that Max DP on cold boxes plates will never
exceed Operative DP and the worm up of unit 25 with the residual gas stored in the
units 20, 30, 28 and 24)
25-ESDV-00004
25-ESDV-00008
25-ESDV-00013
Performed the isolation of CX-25-01 and VD-25-04 they will be depressurized by 25-
PV-00035
21-ESDV-00004
Performed the isolation of VA-21-01, MA-21-01 and VJ-21-02 they will be
depressurized by 21-PV-00003A
21-ESDV-00006
32-ESDV-00021
32-ESDV-00005
Opening by-pass 32-PSV-00060 (MA-32-02B), than drained to close drain from MA-
32-01, MA-32-02A and MA-32-02B
28-ESDV-00020
28-ESDV-00014
28-ESDV-00013
28-ESDV-00015
(Regeneration section will be kept at 1.5 bar to allow the drainage of liquid)
5. Isolation of Hg, H2S and Sieves beds not involved in the activities of Total shut
down
Hg RU
Completed the depressurization they will be preserved with the closure of:
Isolation Manual Valve by-pass VJ-30-01 (24”-PG-30-052-6S1A-N)
Isolation Manual Valves DB&B upstream MB-30-01 (24”-PG-30-016-6S1A-H)
Isolation Manual Valves DB&B downstream MB-30-01(24”-PG-30-018-6S1A-H)
H2S RU
Completed the depressurization they will be preserved with the closure of:
6. Draining of equipment
During the final phases of depressurization is suggest to keep a small residual value of
pressure in each equipment (1-2 bar) in the aim to perform easily a preliminary activities
draining that will be however completed later as reported in the W.M.S.
7. Management of lines full of Hydrocarbons and not involved in the above phase of
draining. (Calibration TSV)
8. Purging machine
Purge with N2: Export gas compressors, Expander, Off gas and Regeneration gas
compressors
Completed the activities of depressurization and inerting of process units fuel gas system 45
(Configured in back up mode) has to be isolated and depressurized.
(Only late will be star the activities of isolation and inerting of LP flare, HP warm flare and
Close drain VD 57 01 (Flares in service with LPG bottles)
Above mentioned sequences are dictated by the design of CPF and will be applied in the
aim to reduce drastically the down time of CPF through the coordination of the activities
assigned at Maintenance and Exploitation teams.
12. Timing.
Time requested for the execution of activities at the points 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 “Five” hrs.
Therefore considering the start of Shut down at 07:00 am above points for the systems 20,
30, 28 and 21 has to be finalized at 12:00 am.
