BIRD BOX

What is genre? A genre is a style of art music or literature.

I am going to write a genre reading for the film Bird box. Bird box is set in California 2017 in
a world where unidentified demons that causes death to whoever looks at them as they
provoke suicidal thoughts.
My chosen film is a horror because there is always the fear
of unknown and the fear of death for example during the
whole film when the characters are outside, they have to
cover there eyes and are always running from the
unknown.
Another way that my film is a horror is that there is always
the chance that death could come at ant time which creates
an atmosphere of distrust as there are people outside who
can force or persuade you to look calming it to be beautiful.
A final way my chosen film is horror is the mood the
atmosphere sets which is always dark windy and there are
also whispers of the demons that can be continuously
heard as the characters explore the outside.
Compared to most modern and old horror films Bird box is verry similar in the fact that
there is always suspense and tension between the characters and like most horror film the
characters are lulled into a false sense of security. Which is then broken by a death or a
jump scare. A film just like this is IT. IT is like bird box as there is always a feeling of
something being out there and when you least expect it (although a lot of the time the
silence gives it away).The clown will appear either with a jump scare or a long talk which
leads to death.
The director of bird box is Susanne Bier who has also directed films such as in a better world
and Brothers.
