Foreign Aid in Africa

As you may already know, Africa is the most backward in development continent, so advanced
countries provide foreign aid to it. But sometimes it doesn’t help people in Africa at all! Why?
Government receives money, but why people’s lives doesn’t become better? Let’s jump into it.

Different people have different points of view. Someone says that the problem is in corruption.
Government keeps very large amount of money for itself and poor people don’t receive anything
from that. Schools and hospitals aren’t being built, so people have no opportunity to study or to
be treated.

Others think that the real problem is in wrong money investment. They say that it’s incorrect to
give people money to give them an opportunity to grow up their own businesses. According to
statistics, people in Africa prefer to have a permanent job and not to have their own business. That
investing in big corporations to increase number of workplaces is more efficient than investing in
small private businesses.

The third say that to make Africa better, we shouldn’t only invest money in right things, we should
SUPPORT AND LOVE them. People in Africa feel insecure. We can’t only give them money and say
“Hey, do with this money what you want!”. They should feel that we really care about them and
about their fate.

In my opinion, the first two approaches are the most logical.

Corruption is well-known problem of the whole world. Even countries that can’t be counted as
underdeveloped such as Russia, Ukraine, North Korea, etc. suffer from corruption. Destruction of
corruption will make the world much better, but, unfortunately, it’s impossible.

About investing in big businesses – if I were poor human from underdeveloped country, I would
want to have permanent job because I would be able to know when and how much money I will
get and I would be feeling safely with this knowledge.
