 Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)

Since Mozambique has got the first case in Maputo, the rest of other provinces did not relax
the measures in order to protect against covid-19. Chicualacuala District was one of the distrit
that was supposed to increase the numbers of covid-19 because of its location and it is also a
corridor of trade to other countries.

Nowadays the trade in Gaza province is becoming worse mainly in Chicualacuala District
because the government has increased the measures of protection in order to control the
spreading of covid-19.

The street vendors are not allowed to be seen selling their business as what they use to do,
because they take part one of the main via of coronavirus transmission.

To buy some bread it’s not easy mainly in the morning and also in the evening because of
long line of people who are waiting to buy. And for you to do so, you should be your hands
before you get in a line. And to get in the bakery people might be separated in a distance of
1.5 metres to avoid to be close to each other.

At 9 market the situation is totally different and the policemen are working hard because is the
biggest market of Gaza province and to control the situation of people at the market is being a
big job to the authority of this city because some people are not obeying even they do not
know the importance of being far away from others and many people tend to obey and follow
the measures if they could see the presence of policemen to that local.

The same situation tends to be seen at Limpopo market where many vendors were not obeying
the rule of prevention but the authority has decided to all of them who wants to sell
something, she or he has to put the masks in order to avoid the transmission of covid-19. And
now you could notice that each who want to get to Limpopo market is a must to take with you
a mask.

Every day it is possible to see some group of people who normally go to the locations in order
to interact to the community about the danger caused by covid-19 and they also use to spread
the information via tape-records using microphone and the big speakers to try to get
everybody informed.
Because of increasing numbers of coronavirus positive, it is a must to close every market shop
and also supermarkets at 5p.m. For those who are not obeying they use to be punished even
to be put in the jail for few weeks. These measures are also used for those who used to move
around at 8p.m without a good justification.

And the government from this province use to give us some recommendation such as:

• Stay home as much as possible and avoid close contact with others.

• Wear a cloth face covering that covers your nose and mouth in public settings.

• Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces.

• Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, or use an alcohol-based

hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.

• Stay home if you are sick, except to get medical care.

• Avoid public transportation, ride-sharing, or taxis.

• Separate yourself from other people and pets in your home.

• There is no specific treatment for covid-19, but you can seek medical care to help relieve

your symptoms.

• If you need medical attention, call ahead.

• Everyone is at risk of getting covid-19.

• Older adults and people of any age who have serious underlying medical conditions may be
at higher risk for more severe illness.

Living in the same household as a sick person with covid-19,

• Caring for a sick person with covid-19,

• Being within 6 feet of a sick person with covid-19 for about 15 minutes, OR

• Being in direct contact with secretions from a sick person with covid19 (e.g., being coughed
on, kissing, sharing utensils, etc.)
