Topic: Chaucer as a father of English poetry

Chaucer is not only regarded as the father of English poetry but also the father of English
language and literature. Even today English books are not complete without reading him.
Every student where they are admitted to English books should read poetry right from the
start. With this, he reads Chaucer's poems in detail especially his book "The Prologue to the
Canterbury Tales". Chaucer, if known today, is therefore the reason for his poem "Foreword
to Canterbury's Myths". It was the first book / poem in the English language.

This text is divided into three sections:

Chaucer is the father of English poetry.
English poetry and its features.
Languages Before Burning:
The two most common languages before Chaucer were Latin and French. Chaucer began
writing at a time when there was no proper English language. He was not the first poet to
write, however, he was the first among English writers. At that time, the English were eager
to read books, especially poetry, but poems in their language were not available. This was
because the English language could not be developed to the point where a poet could write
poetry on it.

Chaucer as the Father of English Poetry:

Chaucer took over the responsibility of providing literature in the English language.
Surprisingly, he did not read English books and did not read anything to anyone because
English books were not available at the time. Yet his work makes him a brilliant poet. We
must say that he was a wise and God-fearing man who wrote poetry. He compiled a
vocabulary of the middle English language and began writing poems about it because of
what we call Chaucer the father of English poetry, language and literature. "Canterbury
Tales" is a good example of it. It complements all aspects of poetry and gives Chaucer the
title of "Father of English Poetry".

English poetry and its features:

In order to prove that Chaucer is the father of English poetry, we must first know what
English poetry is. Is Chaucer a poet? if so what are the factors that make him the first poet of
English literature.

English poetry has certain features that distinguish it from other genres (other types of drama,
novel, short stories, prose etc.). We will judge Chaucer by looking at his famous poem "The
Canterbury Tales". If this poem meets all the requirements it can be called Chaucer as the
father of English poetry. Some features of English poetry are:
Agreement,
Rhythm,
Stanza
Poetry is highly developed. These poetry ingredients are very old. In Chaucer's time, this was
important for poetry, regardless of the language in which it was written.

Agreement:
Rhyme is a word for choosing the same words while writing a poem. Modern poets do not
write poems in the form of sync. Milton was probably the first to use a blank verse, which is
not in line with poetry. However, it was basically important in Chaucer's time to write poems
in the order of harmonization. Chaucer's "The Canterbury Tales" is in agreement. In fact,
Chaucer woven all the words of this poem with great effort. Nowhere, the poem "Canterbury
Tales" has no rhyme. When students read a poem, they seem to be singing a song because of
the rhyme system in which it is used.

In short, Chaucer is using a good contract program in "The Canterbury Tales". It is one of the
great symbols of basic poetry worthy of Chaucer as a poet. His descendants followed him
through a synchronization program. However, he became the first and taught the world how
to write poetry in the English language. Chaucer can therefore be called the father of English
poetry.

Rhythm:
The contract is too closed. Rhyme is the word for choosing the same sound words, and the
meaning of the rhythm is: continuous sound effect or pattern. Geoffrey Chaucer continued to
follow “Rhythm” in his poem “The Canterbury Tales”. In Chaucer's time, there was a rhythm
in French and Latin poems, however, it was very difficult for Chaucer to keep it in the
English language. Chaucer somehow managed to make a rhythm and taught the world how to
write poetry. For this basic reason we can call Chaucer as the father of English poetry.

Stanza:
It is a way for the author to present his poems to his readers. A stanza is a group of verses. In
other words, it can be called a category in poetry. The number of verses can vary depending
on the poem. It depends on the author how many verses you want in the stand. Chaucer also
kept it in the "Canterbury Tales". His followers followed him. He was the first to present it in
English poetry, so he won the title of “Father of English Poetry”.

"The Canterbury Tales" with Chaucer as the Father of English Poetry:

Is "The Canterbury Tales" worth reading? Every time we read Chaucer's book, we ask
ourselves that question. The answer to these questions is clear. Yes, Chaucer's "The
Canterbury Tales" is a must read. Because, it gives us an idea of how English is being
developed. Today, it is a challenge for us to learn the English language of Chaucer's day. We
have changed so much that we need an old dictionary to read it. However, "Canterbury
Tales" are an excellent form of poetry. Chaucer was the first English poet. Therefore, we do
not know the basics of poetry from "The Canterbury Tales".

Conclusion: (Indeed Chaucer is the father of English Poetry):

In every sense, Chaucer becomes the father of English poetry. First, he introduced the
English language to the world, however, most of the words were introduced from Latin and
French. Second, he has the ability to write poetry. You know its basics. We have proved this
by looking at the basic ingredients of poetry. Third, he was the first and foremost poet in
English. That's why we read him today. Chaucer is needed to learn because he is the father of
English poetry. Chaucer may have some weaknesses such as lack of seriousness, not rhythm
but no one can deny his efforts to create a new language and to present poetry.
