n small animal practice, the most commen
indication for intestinal surgery is mechanical
obstruction. This paper reports successful
treatment a linear intestinal foreign body by

loops of intestines filled with gas cranually Based
on clinical signs, physical examination and
radiography, the case was tentatively diagnosed
as intestinal obstruction.
‘The dog was stabilized with Ringers Lactate
(RL20 mL/kg but, iv) and prepared for aseptic
surgery under general anaesthesia using
combination of diazepan (03mglkgbwt im) and
Ketamine (5 mg/kgb wt iv).
Following celiotomy through mid-ventral
incision, the intestines were explored.
Enteroplication was observed in distal jejunum,
having foreign body with reasonably good
intestinal viablity Enterotomy was paformed at
the anti-mesentenic border at 3 places to reteve
the foreign body, which included a piece of cloth.

using 3-0 PGA by single layer of Cushing sutures,

cavity. Celiotomy incision was closed as per
standard procedure, Postoperatively the dog was
administered with Cefotaame (600 mg im for7
days), Tramadol Qmg/kgb set im for3 days) and

on 3" day and the animal was gradually shifted to

‘The success rate in foreign body intestinal
obstruction decreased with the delay in
presentation, and higher mortality rates were
recorded in linear foraign body obstruction treated
