1. INTRODUCTION
1.1.General
The structure is three and storey covered storied RC framed Residential building. The
building is regular in plan and elevation.
1.3.Design Loads
Live Load (Based on IS 875_Part 2: 1987):
2
Rooms : 2 kN/m2
Passage : 3 kN/m2
Staircase : 3 kN/m2
Assumptions:
Importance factor, I = 1
Response Reduction Factor, R = 5
Soil Type = Type II (Medium soil)
1.4.Materials Properties
Grade of concrete : M20
3
Poisson’s ratio for steel : 0.3

2. ANALySIS AND DESIGN OF STRUCTURE
2.1.Finite Element Modeling
Finite element model has been prepared in ETABS 2017. Beams and frames were modeled
as frame element while slabs were modeled as shell element. Material properties and loads
were assigned as mentioned above. Rigid diaphragm for concrete slab was assigned at each
floor level. Figure shows the finite element model of the building, modeled with ETABS
2017 software.

Column Size:
300 mm X 300 mm
Beam Size :
Tie Beam: 230 mm x 300 mm
Main Beam:
First floor Beam : 230 mm x 350mm
Second Floor Beam : 230mm X 350 mm
Slab thickness: 125 mm
Stair slab Thickness : 150 mm
Brick masonry wall: 230 mm and 125 mm
