Harness the direct and multiplier effects of tourism for employment generation
Impetus to rural tourism
Focus on domestic tourism as a major driver of tourism growth.

To position tourism as a major engine of economic growth.


Community-based development and pro-poor tourism approach
It is a central sector scheme
To develop public facilities like last mile connectivity, Way side Amenities, Solid Waste
Management, Illumination, parking etc. where Private Sector is not willing to invest.
Convergence with other schemes of Central and State Governments
To leverage voluntary funding available for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
Fifteen thematic circuits have been identi ed
North-East India Circuit, Buddhist Circuit, Himalayan Circuit, Coastal Circuit, Krishna
Circuit, Desert Circuit, Tribal Circuit, Eco Circuit, Wildlife Circuit, Rural Circuit,
Spiritual Circuit, Ramayana Circuit, Heritage Circuit, Su Circuit and Tirthankar
Circuit.
Tourist Circuit: It is de ned as a route having at least three major tourist destinations.
Recently, First Tribal Circuit Project was inaugurated in Chhattisgarh.

Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Augmentation Drive

Harness pilgrimage tourism for its multiplier effect for employment.


Promote local art, culture, handicraft, cuisine, etc.
Central Government will provide 100% fund.
Efforts to involve PPP and CSR as well.
Infrastructure development such as entry points (road, rail and water transport), last
mile connectivity, basic tourism facilities like Information/ Interpretation Centers, ATM,
eco- friendly transport etc.
