MANAGEMENT OF THE COMPANY:

Shri Mukesh Kumar Surana - Chairman and Managing Director

Shri Mukesh Kumar Surana, has taken charge as Chairman & director
- Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited effective April 01, 2016.
before this, he served as Chief military officer, Prize Petroleum
Company Ltd., an entirely owned subsidiary and upstream arm of
HPCL since September, 2012. A engineer with Master’s degree in
Financial Management, Shri Surana joined HPCL within the year
1982. During his career spanning over 33 years in Petroleum Industry,
Shri Surana has handled a good range of responsibilities including
leadership positions in Refineries, Corporate, Information Systems and upstream business of
HPCL. He has been closely involved in Strategy Formulation, Business Process Re-
engineering, Major Projects Implementation, Refinery Operations, Corporation wide ERP
Implementation, Acquisition and Management of upstream assets etc. Shri Surana has vast
experience in domestic and international Oil & Gas business and is understood for his
business acumen, innovative ideas and people-centric leadership. He was a Core Team
Member for Corporate wide ERP implementation in HPCL which now forms the backbone of
all business transactions at HPCL. a licensed Competency Assessor and a Project
Management Professional, Shri Surana has also been actively related to various important
industry forums in Oil & Gas Sector.

Shri Sunil Kumar- Ex-Officio Director

Shri Sunil Kumar is a Government Nominee Director of our


Company. He's IRAS (1995 batch) and is presently posted as Joint
Secretary (Refineries), Ministry of Petroleum & gas , New Delhi since
May, 2019. He's Bachelor of Technology (Petroleum Energy) from
IIT(ISM), Dhanbad, Financial Management from NIFM, Faridabad,
Masters in Business Administration from BI, School of Management,
Oslo, Norway, Executive European MBA from ESCP-EAP, Paris,
France, Masters Diploma publicly Administration from IIPA, New
Delhi and Logistic Simulation and Planning from Beijing Jiaotong University, Beijing,
China.As Joint Secretary (Refineries), He is looking after the matters related to Refineries,
Auto Fuel Policy, Petrochemicals, Import/export of crude oil and other petroleum products;
Bio Fuels, Renewable Energy and Conservation, Integrated Energy Policy; Climatic Change
& National Clean Energy Policy. Before joining MoP&NG, he has worked with Indian
Railways in various capacity including Director Finance Expenditure in Railway Board and
Chief Project Manager of Accounting Reform Project of Indian Railways.

Shri Subhash Kumar - Part-Time Director


Shri Subhash Kumar may be a Part-Time Director on the Board of
HPCL, nominated by Government of India as representative of ONGC.
Shri Subhash Kumar is a Director - Finance of ONGC effective 31st
January, 2018. before joining as Director - Finance, ONGC, Shri Kumar
served a quick stint with Petronet LNG Limited where he joined as
Director - Finance in August, 2017. Shri Kumar is Fellow Member of
ICMAI and also Associate Member of ICSI. he's an alumnus of Punjab
University, Chandigarh, where he obtained his Bachelor’s degree and
Master’s degree in Commerce with trophy. Shri Kumar joined ONGC in
1985 as Finance & Accounts Officer (F&AO). After initially working in Jammu and
Dehradun, he had an extended stint at ONGC Videsh, the overseas arm of ONGC. He played
a key role in evaluation and acquisition of the many Assets abroad by ONGC Videsh.
He worked as Head Business Development, Finance & Budget and also as Head Treasury
Planning & Portfolio Management Group at ONGC Videsh from April 2010 to March 2015.
He then went on to function Chief treasurer of Mansarovar Energy Colombia Limited, a
50:50 venture of ONGC Videsh and Sinopec of China, from September 2006 to March 2010.
Shri Kumar joined back ONGC as Chief Commercial & Head Treasury of ONGC in July,
2016 where he played a key role in evaluation, negotiation, and concluding outstanding
issues concerning the organizations.ong University, Beijing, China

Shri Amar Sinha - Independent Directors

Shri Amar Sinha has been appointed as Independent Director on the


Board of HPCL effective September 21, 2017. Shri Amar Sinha
joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1982. he's an Economics
Graduate from Patna University and has worked with the depository
financial institution of India for over two years before joining the
Indian Foreign Service .During his diplomatic career, he has served
in various capacities in Algiers (1983-87), Buenos Aires (1987-90), within the Ministry of
External Affairs as Private Secretary to Minister of State for External Affairs, Chemicals &
Fertilizers, Parliamentary Affairs and Department of Electronics and Ocean Development
from July 91 to May 96. He then served as Director (BSM) in Ministry of External Affairs
from June 1996 to July 1997 and as OSD to Ministry of State for External Affairs from July
1997 to April 1998. During his last tenure in India (2010-2013), he was on deputation to the
Ministry of Commerce and Industry and served as Joint Secretary within the national trading
policy Division and therefore the RMTR Division handling WTO related matters and issues
concerning multilateral economic negotiations. He also oversaw India’s participation in
multilateral for a like UNCTAD, APTA, BIMSTEC, G20, IBSA, BRICS etc. After
completion of his assignment in Kabul successfully as Ambassador of India to Afganistan
(June 2013 to January 2016), he has assumed the charge of the post of Secretary (Economic
Relations) within the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi, on January 15, 2016.
Shri G. Rajendran Pillai - Independent Directors
Shri G. Rajendran Pillai has been appointed as Independent Director on the
Board of the Company effective July 15, 2019. Shri Rajendran Pillai hails
from Kollam district. He has completed his B.A. and M.A. from SN
College, Kollam and LLB from SP College of Chandrapur under Nagpur
University. He has worked with Income Tax Department and is currently
practising as an Advocate in District Court of Kollam.

Shri Siraj Hussain - Independent Directors


Shri Siraj Hussain has been appointed as Independent Director on the
Board of HPCL effective September 21, 2017. Shri Siraj Hussain
joined the IAS in 1979 and was allotted Uttar Pradesh Cadre. He
served the govt of Uttar Pradesh in various capacities including
District Magistrate, Hardoi; director, UP State Industrial Development
Corporation; director, UP Agro Industries Corporation and Registrar
of Cooperative Societies. He was posted within the State Secretariat
within the Departments of Energy, Education and Panchayati Raj. He
was also Secretary to Chief Minister of UP. He retired from Govt
service in January 2016. he's presently a Visiting Senior Fellow with ICRIER. He has been
researching and writing on various problems with agriculture sector including crop insurance,
futures exchange of agricultural commodities, streamlining of food subsidy through DBT and
state/UT agriculture reports of some states/UT

Shri R. Kesavan: Director – Finance Functional Director

Shri R. Kesavan took over as Director – Finance of the Corporation


effective September 5, 2019. he's also the Chief treasurer (CFO) of
the Corporation. before his appointment as Director – Finance, Shri
R. Kesavan was executive – finance of the Corporation for over 4
years. he's a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants
of India (ICAI). Shri Kesavan brings rich experience of over 3
decades in handling various areas on Finance covering Corporate
Accounts, Audit, Treasury Management, Risk Management,
Budgeting, Pricing, Corporate Strategy & Margin Management,
Heads of economic in various Marketing SBUs etc. He has various academic distinctions to
his credit and may be a key technical speaker in In-house Capability Building seminars &
workshops. He has contributed articles of Corporate interest in various publications.
