1. Explain the procedure of loading!

Answer :
Loading cargo ship consists of two main types, namely export and import.
1. Export
The shipping instruction contains the required data, including:
a. Shipper name, consignee and notify address.
b. Port of loading and unloading
c. Mark & no. As well as goods
d. Total load, kg / colli, weight and volume
e. The name of the ship that will be transported
f. Providing freight prepaid or to collect
g. Number of original bill of lading desired
2. Import
The shipping agent will do the following:
a. Tell the consignee, the ETA of the ship and how long it will take to unload / load the goods.
b. Notify customs and make general notification of the goods on board and which will be
unloaded.
c. When the ship arrives and starts loading / unloading activities, the appointed consignee or
EMKL will take care of the B / L and the goods documents.
d. With the existing B / L and with other supporting documents, first settle obligations to
shipping agents, such as freight, container guarantees, documentation fees, administration of
terminal handling charges (THC) and other costs.
2. Explain the procedure of discharging!
Answer :
1. Based on the planning and readiness of B / M and HR equipment, PBM carries out loading
and unloading activities
a. B / M Direct
b. B / M via warehouse or stockpile
c. Make a daily report or also called an activity report
2. After the loading and unloading is complete:
a. PBM makes a final report on B / M activities and the use of B / M tools, then submits it to (the
port) for the process of calculating the cost of service realization, enclosing:
- Daily report
- Damage cargo list
- Proof of use of B / M tools
- Proof of Use of Stacking Space if there is an accumulation of goods
b. Make a resume of monitoring activities, which is set forth in the job sheet of activities or the
loading and unloading work report
c. Perform a calculation process consisting of costs:
· Jetty services
· Cooperation in the use of facilities
· Stacking warehouse / field
· Use of tools.
3. Explain about ballast operation
Answer :
Ballasting or de-ballasting is a process by which sea water is taken in and out of the ship when
the ship is at the port or at the sea. The sea water carried by the ship is known as ballast water.

Ballast or ballast water is sea water carried by a vessel in its ballast tanks to ensure its trim,
stability and structural integrity. Ballast tanks are constructed in ships with piping system and
high capacity ballast pumps to carry out the operation.

5. What is the function of lashing?


Answer :
The lashing function of ships is an important aspect of shipping safety. Not only does it function
to protect the cargo from shocks, lashing also plays a role in maintaining the balance of the ship
so that it doesn't roll when hit by high waves.
