GLAD – Tutorial Lesson

Lesson

Initiation:
Have all students log onto a computer and then sit quietly for further instructions.

Teacher: “Today is the day you have been working for. It is Revit Day!”

Procedure:

Option 1 Step by Step

 Pass out the tutorials to each student
 It is very important that the teacher go through the process step by step with the students.
 Make it clear that they are not to jump ahead.
o In test runs, the 5th grade student skipped many steps. Common all throughout middle school.

Options 2 Make Them Think

 Students can compete against each other to see who asks the least amount of questions.
 Pair the students up within a class or if there are different classes, have class compete against class.
o Promotes reading the directions more carefully
o Peer teaching. They can help each other and ask each other multiple questions, but not the
teacher.
o Problem solving. Make the student think before he/she speaks.
 The teacher should do the tutorial with the students, (step by step) to help head off any unforeseen
problems.
o The teacher can feel free to offer hints or information if they hear the discussion in the room
seems to be around a similar topic.

Closure:

This class will last a few days. At the end of each class ask the students where they are in the process to better
help assess how long it will take this particular group of students.

Give any tips or hints that you might find they need from the day’s work or review any steps the students may
have been stuck on.

These steps will vary, as every class is different.
