THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN DETROIT/PONTIAC HAS ISSUED A BLIZZARD


WARNING WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 7 PM THIS EVENING TO 7 PM EST WEDNESDAY.

QUICKLY ACCUMULATING SNOW AND BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW WILL MAKE ROADS
VERY HARD TO CLEAR. WIND CHILLS BETWEEN 0 AND -5 DEGREES ARE EXPECTED TONIGHT.
THE HEAVIEST SNOW AND STRONGEST WIND GUSTS ARE EXPECTED TO COINCIDE BETWEEN
10 PM TONIGHT AND 10 AM WEDNESDAY WITH ANTICIPATED SNOW ACCUMULATIONS
BETWEEN 10 AND 15 INCHES.

It is suggested that citizens not travel on the roadways during the specific times of the Blizzard Warning, which is
7:00 PM on Tuesday February 1 through 7:00 PM on Wednesday February 2. HOWEVER, IF YOU MUST
TRAVEL HAVE A WINTER SURVIVAL KIT WITH YOU AND IF YOU GET STRANDED STAY WITH
YOUR VEHICLE.

Due to the potential severity of this storm the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office will make the following
adjustments to our operational procedures:

Police Services:

There will be a limited response to non-life threatening calls.


We are urging citizens to avoid calling 911 for non-life threatening calls.

Metro Dispatch:

Will be prioritizing resources to life threatening calls.


Will be urging citizens to use common sense and sound judgment when calling for non-life threatening
situations. Please do not tie up telephone lines and dispatch personnel by calling 911 for weather or travel
information.
Asking citizens to NOT CALL for general questions or weather related information. Contact the Michigan

Jail and Corrections Division:

NO visitation on Wednesday February 2 and Thursday February 3.


NO Work Program for Wednesday February 2.
NO evening classes for Wednesday February 2.

Community Corrections:

There will NO random drug testing.

It is anticipated that on Thursday February 3, at 8:00 AM the above listed adjustments will no longer be in effect.
However, a media release will be sent out detailing any other altered response to the Sheriff’s Office operational
procedures.
