    History of Pop Music

    Syllabus

    Course Description:
    This course traces the history of popular music from its beginning roots in Tin Pan Alley to the
    present. Students will study a wide repertoire of music from each decade and genres specific to
    these years. There will be detailed discussions, presentations, tests and papers required for
    each chapter.

    Materials:
    Pencil/Pen
    Music Folder/Binder
    Chromebook
    Textbook

    Grading:
    Quizzes and Tests: 20%
    Written Assignments: 40%
    Individual and Group Projects: 20%
    Class Participation: 20%

    Rules:
    Be Prepared, On time, and Ready to ​Work
    Follow directions the first time they are given
    Be Respectful ​and​ Responsible
    Keep Hands, Feet, and other Objects to Yourself
