Currently, India has 542 Medical Colleges teaching MBBS course. And the total number of
MBBS seats are 80,055. Out of these 542 medical Colleges, 273 are Government college & the
total number of MBBS seats in government colleges is 41,480.

This year nearly more than sixteen lakhs candidates will appear for NEET 2020 exam for
pursuing Medical, Dental & Ayush courses. Every NEET appearing candidate dreams of getting
MBBS admission in one of the government’s Medical college either from All India Counselling
or from their respective State Quota Counselling process.

Out of a total of 41,480 MBBS government college seats, a total of 6,222 MBBS seats are
available for All India Counselling which accounts to 15%. These seats will be available to all the
NEET qualified candidates and the allotment of seats will be based on NEET 2020 All India
Rank. Candidates can take admission on merit basis in any of the state medical college of their
choice.
