National-Gilwell Torque Converters are manufactured at its Mc Alester, Oklahoma
Plant Facility. The serial number assigned to each torque converter is stamped on the
nameplate. Please refer to this number when ordering parts.
This service manual has been prepared to include information on installation, care and
operation maintenniice as welll as assembly and disassembly procedures. Proper us
of this manual will assist the operator in chtaining good converter operation and
trouble free service.

“The operator is warned that, before performing aay internal maintenance work on the
converter, it is necessary to shutdown the converter and aliow it to cool. This
precaution must always be observed bocause immediately after shutdown the oil
temperature is sufficiently high to cause painful burns!
