I. Changes/additions to the • Mai introduced 4 guests and thanked them for
Agenda and Introductions of attending the Advisory Board Meeting this

II. Father David Gaa • Fr. Gaa also introduced by Fr. Chuck. Fr. Gaa
is the Director of the Mission and helps out with
Liturgies, etc. at the Parish.
• Father Gaa spoke about the Old Mission
Church being open and there are still things to
work out as far as security, etc. for the Church.
Bishop Brom will be coming for the official
opening of the Old Mission Church.
• Fr. Gaa is also happy with the fence coming
down between the Mission and the Parish.

Opening Prayer • St. Francis song sung by all!


All • Minutes approved by Mary and seconded by
Michele and corrections were acknowledged
and corrected.

Youth Presentation -Proposal • Our Youth Representatives were not able to


attend the meeting as planned.

Introduction of Guests • Ginny and Joe Egan introduced themselves to


Mai Vo the board. Joe ministers to the sick and
homebound. Ginny asked about the
Welcoming Committee.
• Buster Beasley is the Grand Knight this year for
the Knights of Columbus and is willing to help
wherever possible.
QLM Meeting –November • Mai, Michele, and Sr. Yvonne are preparing for QLM Meeting on November 13th

Mai Vo the November QLM. Staff is not involved in the November 13 . Begin
QLM Preparation in the Chapel at 9:00
• Michele – Rough draft for the upcoming QLM am.
on November 13th was distributed to all. Some
assignments given out to board members.
Ministries members hopefully will be present to
help summarize what their ministries do in the
parish. Purpose is to form community, and a
presentation by the pastor
• Refreshments will be at the end of the meeting.
We will begin the meeting in the parish chapel.
Dining Room will be for refreshment break only.
Having meeting at Parish instead of the
Mission Retreat Center because of finances.
• Tere does all the Spanish translation at the
meetings. Tavale will help with the singing.
Thank you both.
• Discussion of the preparation for future QLM
Meetings followed. All board members
responsible for calling the heads of ministries.
• Evaluations are a set format and just need to
be given to participants.

Pastor Presentation • Unity is our main focus between the Old


Fr. Chuck Mission and the Parish. The use of the Old
Mission Church is at no cost to the parish. It is
a place for prayer.
• St. Francis Day was very successful inspite of

other activities going on in the city. The
Transitus of St. Francis was also well attended.
Mary commented about the day and the school
is happy with the turnout.
• Oct. 10th there will be a Multicultural Rosary at
2:00 PM on the front lawn of the School.
Rosaries will also be distributed.
• Oct. 16th “Rebuild my Church” presentation by
Fr. Chuck and Fr. David. It will be from 9:00 -
12:00 PM. The purpose is to reintroduce
Franciscan Spirituality and principles to our
Parish Community. The Small Christian
Communities, the Hispanic community, the
English community, and the Samoan
community. Should have about 200 or more
parish members at this meeting.
• Fr. Chuck explained the theme and process of
the meeting. Four areas we will be
concentrating on will be: RCIA, Religious
Education, Parish School, and Services to
Military Families. Members will be asked to get
involved in one of these areas. Mini-retreats will
be given to all members of the parish in the
next year.
• Sports Court Project: Small fundraisers have
been going on and presently have about
$50,000 to $60,000! Hope to have project
done in the Spring.
Finances • Finances seem to be up despite the rough
Allen Hartman economic situation.
• Oct. 9th -9:00 AM – presentation on wills, trusts,
estates, etc. and how the Church can be part of
the wills.
• October 24th – blood drive, from 8:00 – after
12:00 PM Liturgy
• Nov. 1st – Groundbreaking of Casa’s new
facility in San Marcos. A positive move for us.
It will give us some additional work space. We

will lose the rent from Casa.
• January 1st – Reorganization of the Diocese.
Each parish will be a separate entity from the
Diocese.

• Meeting closed at 8:25 PM.
