1)Tell us about yourself

I come from a city named Kolkata where I was born and brought up and completed my schooling
from Hariyana Vidya Mandir. I was an IT services professional. I worked in Infosys for 3 years where I
worked as a software developer with one of the clients from the USA. My main task was
development, enhancement and maintenance of the application according to the business
requirements. After serving Infosys for 3 years I joined Tata Consultancy Services where I worked for
2 months before joining IIM Udaipur.

2)Why are you doing an MBA?

In my 3 years of work experience, I have worked on different technologies like Python, Java, SQL and
other software tools. I have been in the development side of the story and here I had a chance to try
and understand their business needs and translate this to a software requirement. Now, I would like
to have profound knowledge and explore more on the business side of the story where I can have a
larger say in shaping the business of the company.

An MBA will provide me with 3 critical pillars which will help me achieve my short and long term
goals.

Firstly, it will provide me with a much deeper and formal insight on subjects relating to
management.

Secondly, it will help me network with peers of the same mindset of our country from diverse
backgrounds and interact with faculty who are experts in their field.

Thirdly it will help me in career progression and provide me with an industrial connect and a chance
to work with good companies.

3)Why have you chosen the above specialization?

Being an Engineer and having work experience in a software development field I would first like to
go into Analytics and then into Finance. Having a strong background in mathematics I think Finance
which is a quantitative subject and Analytics which is an amalgamation of mathematics, coding and
business would be an apt field for me to pursue.

If you have worked before, tell us about your work experience

Worked in Infosys as a Full-stack developer for a Software As A Service application named Pihms
Workability Self Administration where I developed and enhanced the application for a Fortune 500
leading Health Care Insurance provider in the USA. Used to collaborate with the business team
regularly for suggestion & understanding of the business requirements. Assisted team members and
supervised juniors to solve the technical and business-related problems. Did requirement analysis of
the business requirements given to the juniors and explained them the work. Created Knowledge
Transfer Documents for the application and took Knowledge Transfer session for new joiners.
Created Documentation of the stories and workflow of the daily task that was assigned to me. The
daily job involved coding, building servers, installing, deploying and maintaining the web application.

During my brief stint in TCS, I was part of a team assigned to an analytics project for an American
multinational financial enterprise. Was undergoing training in various emerging technologies like Big
Data, Hadoop, Map Reduce, Hive and Spark.

4)Tell us about your Summer Internship

Worked as a Summer Intern in GroupM's Data Analytics Team where I created an Interactive Data
Visualization Dashboard using excel and python. The Dashboard is fed with past business data
related to the marketing campaigns of various advertising channels associated with GroupM. The
user will be able to see the trends among various data(Knowledge Performance Indicators) regarding
the performances of those channels. The user can dynamically filter the data according to his wish
and can also select which trends he wants to see. The user can draw various insights from the data
trends and based on the insights the user can now take proper data-driven business decision such as
whether to renew a contract with a particular channel or brand and if renewed then negotiate with
the channels based on their past performances.

5)Where do you see yourself in your career 10 years from now?

In the long term, I want to use the skills acquired in day to day business work. I would like to see
myself progress up the corporate ladder where I can blend my engineering knowledge as well as my
MBA knowledge to make the best-informed business decisions possible for the organization as well
as the stakeholders.

Preferably I would want to enter into the niche field of analytics where I can leverage my skill sets
and would want to work as a data analyst, financial analyst, business analyst or data scientist in a
reputed organization where my analytical insights and decisions will help the company grow. Also
having worked as a product developer and interacting daily with the business and product
development team in Infosys, I have acquired the knowledge of the process of product
development. So if given an option I would also like to see myself in the role of a Product Manager
preferably in Software Industry.

6)What are your strengths?

According to my understanding, my top strength includes hard work, commitment and

determination.

7)Explain any failure of yours and how you recovered.

One of the recent failures which I faced and which also help me improved myself was related to my
work experience during my tenure in Infosys. The Health Care Insurance application which we were
working on was taken over by a new client and so there was a need from the client-side to change
the overall look and feel of the application according to the new client's needs. The task was too
complex and it required a lot of new technical knowledge. Also, the deadline was too strict and I
along with two other juniors was given the task to deliver it. Unfortunately, I was not able to deliver
the project for the first time of asking and faced a lot of criticism from seniors for that. It was an eye-
opener for me as I did not properly plan my task and supervise my juniors. Also due to lack of
understanding of the new technology the effort required should have been more. Consequently, I
understood the loopholes in the current approach, doubled up the efforts and research and carefully
supervised the two juniors. Fortunately, at the second time of production deployment, the new
changes were successfully implemented.

8)Why should we hire you?

I think I have the ideal work experience and expertise to work on the role this organization is
offering. Also hard work, focus, determination and dedication are some of the qualities which I can
bring to the table and differentiate me with others. I may not be the best or perfect person and lot
more good candidates are better than me in some aspects. But I can assure that for this job I will be
able to deliver the best out of myself and make sure that I do justice with the opportunity provided.
9)Why do you want to join our company?

First of all, this is one of my dream companies where I want to work. Secondly, the brand value,
work ethics, working environment, benefits and values for employees and finally the satisfaction for
working in such a company is few of the several things which I admire of. Last but not the least, the
role offered is in line with my past work experience as well as my field of interest.

10)How did you utilize your time during the lockdown? How are you now relevant to the post-
COVID-19 world?

The initial part of the time during the lockdown went into my summer internship project. During the
latter part, most of the time I engaged myself with learning new technologies and doing courses
online like MS Excel, Data visualization with Excel and also learnt Python. Also, preparation for
semester exams and subsequently commencement of 2nd-year classes took away the rest of the
time

11)What questions will you ask the interviewer, when they ask you "any questions for us"?

What are your expectations from a fresh MBA graduate and what are the skill sets which you are
expecting him to deliver? If possible can you explain what are the key deliverables for the role you
are offering and if I get selected for this role then any advice for me on what new skills to acquire
outside of the MBA curriculum which might be relevant for this role
