6. Babek Khurramidin rebelled against the Arabs.

What do you think about his

right or wrong decision to ally with Christian Byzantium Empire against
'bearers' of Islam?

Khurram movement against the Arabs that began in Azerbaijan during the period when it
was part of the Arab Caliphate, then spread to other areas. The main reason for this
movement was the tax policy and irrationality of the officials: the local feudals were
dismissing from the position, the half of agricultural products from peasants were collecting
because of taxes. So, all these reasons strengthened the resistance of the civil population
against the Arabs. Babek was the notable leader of this movement and associated with the
Byzantines during it. In my opinion, it was the right decision, because regardless of religion,
if there is a mistake or a problem, you should rebel against it.
On the other side, according to the facts of historian Al-Maqdisi, Khurramites were avoiding
shedding blood except when they gathered under the flag of rebellion, believed that the
origin of the universe was light, they paid extreme attention to cleanliness, approached
people graciously, and some of them regarded all kinds of relationships provided that they
did not harm others. But some of these thoughts were not true or acceptable for Islam. So
maybe, Khurramites allied with the Byzantines because of differences of beliefs with The
Arabs. If it is so, still it’s the right decision, because if you believe in something you should
defend it.
