Description:
The purpose of this course is to explain how English is pronounced in the accent normally
chosen as the standard for people learning the English spoken in England. It is also present the
information in the context of a general theory about speech sounds (Phonetics) and how they
are used in language (Phonology). The theoretical material in the course is necessary for
students who needs to understand the principles regulating the use of sounds in spoken
English.

Expectations and Goals:


1. Mastering the theoretical concepts of "the science of speech sounds of English" (Phonetics)
and "how sounds patterns and functions in English" (Phonology); Mastering the rules of English
pronunciation and the learning strategies;
2. It will Assist students in improving their English pronunciation and listening abilities.
3. Students are able to teach English pronunciation

Grading policy:
Students are expected to attend lectures and workshops, participate in class, and take the
examinations. There will be one middle term examination and one final examination for each
semester course. There will be weekly assignments due.
All scores on exams and assignments will be based on 100 points. The final grade for each
term will be determined by a formula to the following constraints:

Class Participation - 15%


Weekly Assignment - 30%
Midterm Exam - 20%
Final Exam - 35%

Total Percentage is 100%
