Procedures

1.1 OBJECTIVE.

A key objective of ADC Procedures is to set up a step by step way of handling the
job. It is also an analysis of associated hazards pertaining to the jobs and measures to
minimize the risks.
This procedure has developed to be applied and discussed before each job listed in
the contents.

1.2 SCOPE.

This procedure applies to Rig AD-32

1.3 RESPONSIBILITY.

It is the responsibility of the Tool-pusher and Rig Manager to insure all listed
operations are executed in a safe and efficient manner. It is the Toolpusher
responsibility to conduct a Pre-job Safety Meeting and discuss and review the related
JSA, prior to starting each operation.

Tool-pusher is responsible to ensure that each work permit has its dedicated JSA
attached to.

JSA to be reviewed and updated at least annually or

 When equipment is modified
 When processes are changed
 When material are changed
 When changing people/contractors
 When there is an accident or near miss.

The Rig Sup. is accountable for keeping this document up-to –date.

The JSA date and the crew should be same as Work Permit date and crew.

Procedures

Preparation

 Review JSA number 06 related

 Hold a pre-job safety meeting prior to commencement job with all personnel involved
including the crane and forklift operators all personnel involved in the job.
 Make out PTW.
 Check Tong Dies.
 Inspect tongs dies and spinner rollers.
 Prepare trip sheet, function test trip tank, check flow show and level sensor.
 Prepare tracking sheet for amount of pipe to be picked up, one copy with driller, and one
copy with roustabout pusher.
 Ideally bring right amount of pipe required to avoid mistakes.
 Make sure pipe racks are pinned to catwalk and between them end to end.
 Prepare a basket for the rig floor to collect all protectors.

Tools

 Forklift
 Lifting caps/single joint elevators
 Protectors male and female
 Tugger
 Slips
 Rig tongs, Iron Roughneck
 Fast line and sheave.
 Mousehole spacer.
 2ea 2” pipe to roll pipe

Procedure

Keep a track on how many joints are picked up, physical count, and cross check with deck
crew.

1. Roustabout to install rabbit in pipe and screw lifting cap on pipe rack.

2. Roll on joint of drill pipe onto catwalk (one man at each end of pipe).

3. If the single joint elevator is used, the joint will be rolled onto two pieces of woof on the
catwalk, and then the single joint elevator will be latched, after confirmation with the air
winch operator that he will not move anymore.

Procedures

4. When deck crew clear out of catwalk. Tugger operator picks up joint to the rig floor. Watch
for upward obstructions, TDS, cable trapped in monkey board fingers etc..

5. Drill crew tail in pipe at V-Door with 1” rope and remove protector, recover rabbit.

6. Lower drill pipe in mousehole; make sure catwalk is clear and send rabbit down via string
line.

7. Unscrew lifting cap/ unlatch single joint elevator, lower to catwalk for next joint.

8. Driller lowers elevators and latch elevator (with link tilt) on pipe in mousehole.

9. Pick up joint, check cleanliness of thread apply drill pipe dope and stab in the box of the
joint in the rotary.

10. Check and clean the Threads.

11. In the mean time one more joint is picked up, make sure that nobody stands between the
mousehole and the drill pipe set on slips when pick up pipe through V-Door.

12. Watch pinch points in pipe spinner or roughneck

13. Latch pipe spinner or Iron Roughneck and spin and make up connection.

14. Pull slips and lower pipe, set slips.

15. Repeat steps 1 to 11

16. Maintain Good Communication.

17. Roustabout pusher to check amount of joints picked up.

18. Repeat steps 1, 2,3,4,5, Driller to check and record steel volume on trip tank sheet and
check with calculated figures.

19. At the end of the operation, both Driller and Roustabout pusher to meet and compare
amount of pipe lay out.

Note: At crew change time STOP the job, drillers to verify amount of pipe picked up
and remaining, Pre-job meeting with new crew.
