BWF Badminton World Championship 2019

P.V Sindhu became the first Indian player to win the historic Badminton World Championship (BWF)
gold by crushing Japanese NozomiOkuhara in a dominating one-sided final. In the titan clash, she
won the gold with 21-7, 21-7 that lasted only 38 minutes.

Sindhu finishes with her fifth medal at the world championships. In an earlier edition of BWF, she
had won Bronze in 2013, again Bronze in 2014, Silver in 2017 and again Silver in 2018. And now

Pakistan has successfully test-fired nuclear-capable surface-to-surface ballistic missile Ghaznavi

from Sonmiani test range near Karachi located in Balochistan. The missile was built with a capability
to deliver different types of warheads including nuclear and conventional up to a range of 290 km. It
will be placed under the medium-range ballistic missiles. During the test, Ghaznavi was tracked by
the National Development Complex (NDC) ground control station.

The Brown to Green Report is the world's most comprehensive annual review of G20 climate action.
The report draws on the latest emissions data from 2017 and covers 80 indicators on

VG Siddhartha Hegde was an Indian billionaire and businessman from Karnataka. He was the

FAME scheme

The Department of Heavy Industry has sanctioned 5595 electric buses under second phase of ‘Faster
Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles’ (FAME) scheme.
The FAME India (Faster Adoption and Manufacture of (Hybrid and) Electric Vehicles) Scheme is an
incentive scheme for the promotion of electric and hybrid vehicles in the country.
Ultimate objective of the scheme is to promote electric mobility and the scheme gives financial
incentives for enhancing electric vehicle production and creation of electric transportation
infrastructure.

Phase I: started in 2015 and was completed on March 31st, 2019.

Phase II: started from April 1st, 2019, will be completed by March 31st, 2022.

R-27 Air-to-Air Missile

India has signed a deal to acquire R-27 Air-to-Air Missiles from Russia to be equipped on Su-30MKI
combat aircraft.

Spain has offered to host COP-25 UN Climate Change Summit as it was called off by Chile due to
anti-government protests. Spain is all set to hold general elections on November 10 and the
scheduled dates of COP25 are December 2-13.
