Court of appeals

- Consists of a Presiding Justice and fifty Associate Justice who shall be appointed by the President
of the Philippines
- Appointed by the President
- There are 17 division with 3 members each

Jurisdiction

- Original jurisdiction to issue writs of mandamus, prohibition, certiorari, habeas corpus, and quo
warranto, and auxiliary writs or processes, whether or not in aid of its appellate jurisdiction
- Exclusive original jurisdiction over actions for annulment of judgements of Regional Trial Courts
- Exclusive appellate jurisdiction over all final judgements, resolutions, orders or awards of
Regional Trial Courts and quasi-judicial agencies, instrumentalities, boards or commission,
including the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Social Security Commission, the
Employees Compensation Commission and the Civil Service Commission, Except those falling
within the appellate jurisdiction of the Supreme Court

Regional Trial Court

- – No persons shall be appointed Regional Trial Judge unless he is a natural-born citizen of the
Philippines, at least thirty-five years of age, and for at least ten years, has been engaged in the
practice of law in the Philippines or has held a public office in the Philippines requiring admission
to the practice of law as an indispensable requisite.
