Internet of Things (IOT)
Definition
(WEBOPEDIA)
 IoT is short for Internet of Things. The Internet of Things refers to the ever-
growing network of physical objects that feature an IP address for internet
connectivity, and the communication that occurs between these objects and
other Internet-enabled devices and systems.

 (WIKIPEDIA)
 The Internet of Things (IoT) is a system of interrelated computing devices,
mechanical and digital machines, objects, animals or people that are provided
with unique identifiers (UIDs) and the ability to transfer data over a network
without requiring human-to-human or human-to-computer interaction
 The definition of the Internet of things has evolved due to the convergence of
multiple technologies, real-time analytics, machine learning, commodity sensors,
and embedded systems

Internet of Things (IOT)
Definition
1. The Internet of Things, also called The Internet of Objects, refers to a
wireless network between objects, usually the network will be wireless and
self-configuring, such as household appliances.

2. By embedding short-range mobile transceivers into a wide array of

additional gadgets and everyday items, enabling new forms of
communication between people and things, and between things
themselves

Internet of Things (IOT)
 The Internet of Things (IoT) is the network of physical objects or "things"
embedded with electronics, software, sensors, and network connectivity,
which enables these objects to collect and exchange data.

 IoT allows objects to be sensed and controlled remotely across existing

network infrastructure, creating opportunities for more direct integration
between the physical world and computer-based systems, and resulting in
improved efficiency, accuracy and economic benefit.

 "Things," in the IoT sense, can refer to a wide variety of devices such as heart
monitoring implants, biochip transponders on farm animals, electric
clams in coastal waters, automobiles with built-in sensors, DNA analysis
devices for environmental/food/pathogen monitoring or field operation
devices that assist fire-fighters in search and rescue operations.

 These devices collect useful data with the help of various existing
technologies and then autonomously flow the data between other devices.

History of Internet of Things
KEVIN ASHTON - “Father of The IOT”
“He believe IOT cloud turn the world into Data that could be used to make
macro decision on resource utilization ”

Information is a great way to reduce waste and Increase Efficiency, and that's
really what the internet of things provides.

The concept of the Internet of Things first became popular in

1999, through the Auto-ID Center at MIT and related market-
analysis publications.

Radio-Frequency IDentification (RFID) was seen as a

prerequisite for the IoT at that point. If all objects and people in
daily life were equipped with identifiers, computers could
manage and inventory them. Besides using RFID, the tagging
of things may be achieved through such technologies as near
field communication, barcodes, QR codes, bluetooth, and
digital watermarking.

IOT is connecting every day things embedded with electronics, softwares ,sensors
and actuators to the internet enabling them to collect, store and exhange data.

To same platform i can connect Fuelmeter , Speedometer and Location of

CAR.What will happen if i connect all to same platform with my preferences.
Like whether
I m going to office or comming home using GPS tracking of cell phone,
AC turn On and OFF or run in control temperature as per my preference ,
Door Open as i reach home means my home system should be aware that I

Why and Why Not Arduino?
 Why Arduino ?
- Simplest and cost-effective to start.
- All in one interface of IDE assembler compiler with in built
program download burning interface with support of limited in-
circuit debugging.
- ‘C type’ source programming not necessitating experimenter to
know h/w details.
 Why not Arduino ?
- Designed with the purpose of targeting even the technically
uninitiated.
- No timing specific info, a must for serious embedded
development.
- Programmer unable to exercise precise control on the hex code
generated by the compilation process.
 Arduino suitable for Getting introduced to embedded
development in a typical self learning environment.
