All names mean something. Some last names, for example tell you about the
history of a family. In Scotland many last names begin with “Mac”. This means
“son of”, so John Mac Donald is John, The son of Donald. In Ireland, “O” means
“of”, so O’Brien is the son of Brien. Other last names describe occupation or
people. Fisher, for example, means fisherman and Armstrong means a person
with strong arms.
First names mean something too. For example, the English name “Henry” means
“head of the house” in Teutonic. But the name “Henry” is different in other
languages. So, Henry is Henri in French, Heinrich in German, Enrique in Spanish
and Enrico in Italian.
TWINS
There are two types of twins, identical and non-identical. Identical twins always
the same sex and look exactly the same. Non identical twins are not always the
same sex. They look alike but they do not look exactly the same.
Twins have a special relationship. They often become upset when they are not
together. They also have similar sleeping and eating habits. Twin babies often
fall asleep and wake up at the same time.
When twins start talking, they sometimes develop their own language, and only
they can understand it. Sometimes, one twin starts a sentence and the other twin
finishes it.
The chances of having twins are 1 in 80. There’s a 1 in 6.000 chance of having
triplets (3 babies at once) and a 1 in 500.000 chance of having quadruplets (4
babies at once). A woman from Russia, Mrs. Vassilyev, holds the record with six
set of twins, six sets of triplets, four sets of quadruplets and no single birth.
