Fast Kick Kash

By: Joseph Rowe

Growing up, I was always interested in what is hot in the fashion world. My father used to dress
me and my brothers as Allen Iverson growing up I had a Band aid right under my eye with baggy
clothing and a headband on my head even though I was just walking through the mall. The
signature to these outfits being the Allen Iverson signature Reebok shoes. All black bulky shoes
but always the same shoe that tied together all my baggy clothing outfits. Not knowing that
shoes I wore when I was a kid are now worth around $1400 on the resale market. I would say if
only I had known but this is on my parents because I’ve always wanted to keep my shoes even
when I outgrew them. The rest of my generation clearly shared this same feeling because we
now have a platform on the internet where we can make a living just off shoes.
Generation Z is unique and changing the world with the Internet. Using the platform to our
advantage and exploiting people’s love and desire for pop culture. This is shown in the $30
billion-dollar sneaker market. Sneakers have always done a great job of capturing what’s
popular. Whether it is Nike’s Black History Month Collection of shoes or giving signature shoes
to some of our idols like Kobe Bryant.
Signature athletes are never encouraged to get jobs growing up, so to follow in the steps of our
idols I think parents should encourage kids to invest in the future of sneaker reselling. The
internet is at the hands of generation Z, so teaching them the ecommerce of sneaker reselling
should be prioritized over some summer job. In 2018, research suggested that some sneakers
are a better investment than gold! The idea you can by a new limited pair of shoes for $65 and
someone will buy the shoe for upwards of $4,000 because of its exclusivity alone is all because
of the internet.
Benjamin Kickz is the perfect example of someone whose parents pushed them into
ecommerce instead of a summer job growing up and he took advantage of it to the full extent.
Building a sneaker reselling empire that extents to celebrities in the music and entertainment
industry and he is only 20 years old! Business Insider did a full scoop on his journey into selling
shoes starting at 15 years old.
Websites such as StockX and GOAT.com have made it easier and easier for upcoming
generations to make fast money for anyone in a safe and secure way. The best part is they can
do it in the comfort of their own home! Adapting to the hard times of 2020 and keeping
everyone involved away from making contact. Being able to buy a limited quantity sneaker
either online from any shoe website or store and putting it on one of these websites so others
around the world can bid on the pair of shoes have become the new trend for generation Z.
Why make your kids get summer jobs when you can give them a foot in the door of stocks and
investment business by showing them the sneaker resale business?
